Team Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦🏆

From 5th to 10th July, the Western Balkan Bootcamp was held in Popova Šapka, North Macedonia, bringing together participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.

Organized by the Economic Fundamentals Initiative ( Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI) ), the Bootcamp aimed to prepare students for the upcoming International Economics Olympiad final. The sessions were led by Professors Tawni Ferrarini and Joe Calhoun, co-authors of Common Sense Economics and experts from the Gus A. Stavros Center at Florida State University.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented in person by Sara Komarica, Tarik Bećarević, Armin Aždajić, and Imran Zukić, while Dylan Arouh joined the programme online. The finalists were accompanied by teacher Kosana Božić from JU Ekonomska škola Brčko.

Državno finale Ekonomske olimpijade iskoristili smo za fokus grupu sa 20 nastavnika iz 20 srednjih škola širom Bosne i Hercegovine. Razgovarali smo o njihovim iskustvima, izazovima u pripremi učenika i načinima na koje im možemo pružiti još kvalitetniju podršku.

Posebno nas inspiriše posvećenost nastavnika koji često ne dolaze iz ekonomskih škola niti su ekonomisti po struci, ali prepoznaju značaj ekonomske i finansijske pismenosti za budućnost mladih.

Hvala svim nastavnicima na otvorenosti, predanosti i doprinosu zajedničkom razvoju Ekonomske olimpijade! 💙💛

During the National Finals of the Economic Olympiad, we held a focus group with 20 teachers from 20 secondary schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina. We discussed their experiences, the challenges they face while preparing students, and how we can provide them with even better support.

We are especially inspired by the dedication of teachers who often neither come from economics-focused schools nor have a professional background in economics, yet fully recognize the importance of economic and financial literacy for young people’s futures.

Thank you to all the teachers for their openness, dedication, and contribution to the continued development of the Economic Olympiad! 💙💛

Iza svakog učenika koji napravi korak više stoji nastavnik koji ga usmjerava, motiviše i vjeruje u njegov potencijal. Upravo su nastavnici važan dio priče Ekonomske olimpijade - oni učenicima približavaju ekonomiju, podstiču ih da istražuju i pomažu im da znanje pretvore u rezultat.

Na fotografijama su samo neki od nastavnika koji su ove godine svojim angažmanom, trudom i entuzijazmom podržavali učenike na putu do državnog finala. Uz njih, bilo je još mnogo nastavnika iz različitih škola širom Bosne i Hercegovine koji su preuzeli ulogu mentora i dali važan doprinos cijelom takmičenju.

American Student Among Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Top Five Competitors

The sixth National Final of the Economics Olympiad, held on June 24–25, 2026, brought together the country’s most talented young economics students.

The top five competitors were:

Muris Čerkez – 1st place
Dylan Arouh – 2nd place
Tarik Bećarević – 3rd place
Sara Komarica – 4th place
Armin Aždajić – 5th plac

Our finalists are currently attending the Western Balkan Bootcamp organized by Economic Fundamentals Initiative in North Macedonia, where they are undergoing intensive preparations for the upcoming International Final. These rigorous preparation sessions are being led by professors Tawni Hunt Ferrarini and Joe Calhoun.
