🌍🎭 Learning Beyond the Classroom at IUS Summer School! ☀️📚
This July, students participating in the IUS Summer School explored language, literature, culture, and communication through two inspiring workshops led by our distinguished faculty members.
🌎 Intercultural Awareness
On 8 and 15 July 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vesna Suljić welcomed 21 Turkish high school students for two interactive workshops focused on intercultural awareness. Through engaging discussions, students explored the meaning of culture, reflected on stereotypes and intercultural misunderstandings, and shared their own experiences of meeting people from diverse linguistic, geographical, and religious backgrounds. They also spoke about their positive experiences in Bosnia and Herzegovina and highlighted the warm hospitality they received. The workshops concluded with an important reminder to approach different cultures with openness rather than prejudice—and, of course, by learning how to say "I love you" in Bosnian. ❤️🇧🇦
🎭 Shakespearean Drama in Action
On 21 July 2026, Dr. Damir Kahrić introduced students to the world of Shakespeare through an interactive workshop that brought literature to life. Combining literary analysis with theatrical performance, students explored acting techniques, emotional expression, body language, vocal delivery, and stage presence. The session culminated in students confidently performing Shakespearean excerpts, demonstrating how performance can deepen literary understanding while fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
At IUS Summer School, learning extends far beyond traditional lectures—encouraging students to think critically, communicate across cultures, and experience literature in dynamic and meaningful ways. ✨
