Every smile has a story worth telling.

Faculty of Dentistry at SSST marked World Cleft Awareness Day with a panel discussion that brought together healthcare professionals, educators, students, and a parent of a child born with a cleft lip and palate.

The discussion highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, and long-term support, while also addressing the challenges many families face in finding information, guidance, and understanding. Beyond the medical perspective, the panel emphasized the value of education, inclusion, and giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The event concluded with a heartfelt performance by a children’s choir, serving as a powerful reminder that, with timely treatment, dedicated support, and the right opportunities, children born with cleft conditions can thrive, grow with confidence, and find their own voice.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in raising awareness and contributing to this important conversation. Together, we can continue building a community of greater understanding, support, and inclusion.

Beyond the hackathon win: where ideas are deployed, tested and shaped by the real world

Three FutureMinds Lab winning teams took their innovative ideas beyond the hackathon stage and into real-world settings where they could be tested, improved and adapted to actual operational needs. With further technical support in product design and development, mentoring and structured real-world testing, their innovative solutions moved beyond prototypes and into companies and organisations.

ErgoShift deployed its smart ergonomic workstation at Ećo Company.
SmartBed AI explored AI-based hospital bed management with ASA Hospital.
Chillim piloted its gamified visitor experience platform at Planet Sarajevo Museum.

Working directly with users gave the teams the opportunity to understand everyday challenges, reassess initial assumptions and turn feedback into stronger, more practical solutions.

We continue with another successful story delivered through FutureMinds Lab, an initiative of SSST that, through international projects and strong partnerships, empowers young people with the knowledge and skills today's digital economy demands. 💡�

Through specialized training in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity, 47 young participants had the opportunity to learn from industry experts, work on hands-on projects, and develop solutions that address real-world challenges in the modern IT sector.

FutureMinds Lab brings together academia, industry, and innovation, creating an environment where SSST students, as well as young people beyond the University, collaborate with partners to develop impactful projects that support digital transformation and prepare the workforce of tomorrow. 🚀

FutureMinds Lab project is implemented by the University SSST, within the Private Sector Development Initiative (EU4PSD) in BiH, co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Germany (BMZ). The activities build on previous results and the University’s participation in the Digital Innovation Hub its4health.

Three of our Dentistry students were selected, based on their outstanding academic performance, to participate in an advanced endodontic training programme organized by Gema d.o.o.

Combining expert-led lectures with supervised hands-on practice, the programme introduced participants to contemporary principles and techniques in endodontic treatment, one of the key disciplines of modern dentistry.

💡 At SSST, academic excellence opens doors to valuable professional opportunities. Experiences like this enable our students to learn from experienced clinicians, refine their practical skills, and take another step towards becoming highly competent dental professionals.
