The JAKOB cultural church was opened as a new cultural scene in Oslo in February 2000.
The sound system is praised as one of the best in the country, as is the grand piano.

In 1985, Jakob Church was closed as a parish church, but to this day it is still a consecrated church room. In 1986, Kirkelig Kulturverksted began its work to establish a stage for music, drama and visual arts in Jakob Church, and Kulturkirken Jakob opened its doors in 2000 after extensive renovation work.

Today, the church stands as a completely unique stage in Oslo and as the only pure cultural church in Norway. Here are theater performances, art exhibitions, concerts and closed events.

Within all art forms, JAKOB wants to show the possibilities of the church room as an arena. The ambition is to be a driving force for increased use of churches in general as a theater stage, concert hall, dance stage and art gallery.

We will check how Rave in a Church looks like for the NYE 2026.
