🏊 Congratulations to our FBA student Lajla Imamović, who became National Champion in the 50-meter breaststroke at the National Swimming Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Competing among more than 350 swimmers from across the country, Lajla secured first place in the women’s absolute category, showing outstanding dedication, discipline, and sporting excellence.

🚀 Join us for the FENS Graduation Projects Exhibition 2026!

This year, 106 senior students will present 43 graduation projects developed across the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences programs, showcasing creativity, technical skills, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.

The exhibition will bring together students, professors, guests, and industrial partners for a day dedicated to ideas, research, and future-ready solutions.

🌍 IUS welcomed students and professors from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia, as part of their study visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The delegation was welcomed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hamza Preljević, Coordinator of the Political Science and International Relations study program, and Mr. Mugdim Alihodžić, Manager of the IUS International Relations Office.

The visit highlighted the growing cooperation between IUS and UPJŠ through Erasmus+ mobility, academic exchange, and future opportunities for collaboration.

👏 Assistant Prof. Dr. Mersiha Jusić, faculty member of the IUS Psychology study program, received a Recognition for Scientific Excellence at the international conference “Education and Contemporary Challenges 2 – Science in Service of Practice,” held in Zenica.

Her study, “AI as a Source of Social Support for Youth: A Scoping Review,” explores the growing connection between artificial intelligence, youth wellbeing, and mental health support.

On 13 May 2026, the IT-related programs at the International University of Sarajevo hosted a FENS Talks guest lecture: "Host Security Fundamentals and Hardening Strategies."

Mr. Muris Čeljo, CEO of Kodeks d.o.o., joined Dr. Amal Mersni's CS427 Computer and Network Security course, bringing industry perspective into the classroom. Students explored host security from the ground up, covering the Assume Breach principle, OS hardening strategies, endpoint defense tools, access control mechanisms, and audit and logging practices tied to SIEM integration.

We thank Mr. Čeljo and Kodeks d.o.o. for their continued partnership with FENS.

IUS was proud to host the first Sarajevo ACM Celebration of Women in Computing, SCWiC 2026, on May 19, 2026.

Organized by the Sarajevo ACM-W Professional Chapter and supported by ACM-W Europe, the celebration welcomed more than 100 students, academics, researchers, and professionals for a day centered on women in computing, inclusion, and the ethical and sustainable use of technology.

The program featured a welcome address by Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, a session on ACM-W and the Sarajevo ACM-W Professional Chapter by Chair Dr. Amal Mersni, and an online talk by Dr. Asegul Hulus (ACM-W Global Professional Chapters Committee). The day also included a student panel on ACM-W's womENcourage, a sustainability workshop led by Dr. Özge Büyükdağlı, chapter Vice Chair, and a poster session under the theme "Computing in My Field: Ethics, Equity and Sustainability".

Our thanks go to every speaker, panelist, juror, organizer, and student who made this first edition a meaningful step for the local computing community. By creating space for students to present their work and connect with peers and mentors, SCWiC 2026 reaffirmed IUS's commitment to inclusive academic initiatives and to supporting women in computing.
