Strengthening support for student mental health through regional cooperation. 🧠🤝

Assistant Professor Dr. Lejla Mustoo Başer, Head of the IUS Student Psychological Counseling Centre (SPCC), represented IUS at the first Expert Meeting of Psychological Counselors in the Academic Community, held at the University of Rijeka in Croatia.

The meeting brought together professionals from higher education institutions to exchange good practices, discuss current challenges, and explore effective ways to respond to the evolving mental health needs of university students.

🌍 Strengthening academic cooperation and expanding international opportunities

IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı recently visited Marmara University, where he met with Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur to discuss the continued development of the Double Diploma Programs and new possibilities for cooperation between the two institutions.

The first round of the 2026 IUS International Summer School has successfully concluded, bringing together 44 students for two- and four-week programs combining intensive English language learning, creative workshops, academic exploration and cultural exchange.

From robotics, cybersecurity and photography to memorable visits to Sarajevo, Mostar, Travnik and Srebrenica, our participants experienced much more than a traditional summer school — they gained confidence, discovered new interests and created memories to last a lifetime. 🌍✨

Congratulations to all our July participants! As we celebrate their achievements, we are excited to welcome our August group and begin another inspiring summer journey at IUS.

🌍⚡ Advancing regional cooperation in renewable energy education.

From July 27 to 31, 2026, representatives of all eight partner universities took part in an online meeting held within the accreditation process of the ADRION Joint Transnational Master’s Programme in Renewable Energy.

Bringing together universities from Greece, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania, the programme aims to combine academic expertise, mobility and interdisciplinary learning while supporting the energy transition across the Adriatic-Ionian region.

IUS was represented by Dr. Ismar Alagić from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

Strengthening a partnership that opens academic opportunities for future healthcare professionals. 🤝🎓

Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakçı, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), visited the Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi / University of Health Sciences (SBU), IUS’s double-degree program partner, during SBU Promotion Days.

During the visit, Rector Kuşakçı was warmly welcomed by SBU Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Murat Elevli and Prof. Dr. Ebru Kale. The meeting reaffirmed the strong cooperation between the two institutions through the Double Diploma Programs in Medicine and Dental Medicine where students benefit from the academic expertise and resources of both universities while studying in Sarajevo and Istanbul and working toward two recognized diplomas.

SBU Promotion Days bring together prospective students and their families, giving them an opportunity to explore study programs, meet university representatives and receive first-hand information about admission, academic opportunities and student life. IUS is participating with its own stand, where visitors can learn more about the joint Double Diploma Programs in Medicine and Dental Medicine.

TV SA report on “Sevdah in Type” VACD Student Exhibition at Svrzo’s House

📅 On 23 July 2026, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the International University of Sarajevo, in collaboration with the Museum of Sarajevo, opened “Sevdah in Type” at the historic Svrzo’s House.

🎨 Created through cooperation between the Visual Arts and Communication Design and English Language and Literature programs, the exhibition presents 30 typographic posters inspired by the poetry, rhythm, and emotional depth of Sevdalinka. 🎶

🔤📚 The project brought together typography, literature, music, poetry, cultural research, and virtual reality, demonstrating the power of interdisciplinary learning and contemporary design to reinterpret Bosnia and Herzegovina’s rich cultural heritage. 🇧🇦🌍

IUS representatives Muhamed Bisić and Metin Karaman completed a three-week study visit to BTM Istanbul, one of the world’s leading startup incubation centers.

The visit provided valuable insight into BTM’s globally recognized incubation model and opened new opportunities for cooperation, including concrete steps toward expanding the BTM model across the Balkans.

🌊 From IUS to Monaco: A remarkable alumni achievement

IUS alumnus Ibrahim-Halil Jarraya Salihović has become the first participant from Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the prestigious Académie de la Mer de Monaco since the international program was established.

As a full-scholarship participant in the Promotion Sainte Dévote, Ibrahim-Halil represented Bosnia and Herzegovina during an intensive two-week program exploring the world’s seas and oceans from scientific, legal, geopolitical, economic and environmental perspectives.

Through lectures, panels, workshops and visits to leading institutions in Monaco, he joined an international network of experts and young professionals dedicated to marine protection, sustainability and stronger international cooperation.
