The Bosnian History and Nature Week Without Walls trip had it all! From castles with vistas in Sarajevo and Travnik, to beautiful hikes to Skakavac and Umoljani, to the impressive World War Two Battle of the Neretva museum, middle and secondary students were treated to a wide variety of experiences. Despite not being in the same age groups, students bonded well over board games during lunch breaks and ice cream rewards at the end of the long day of hiking. Overall it was a wonderful week and the students produced some impressive historical fiction stories, policy recommendations for improving hiking around Sarajevo, and alternative movie posters for the Battle of the Neretva film.

For Week Without Walls, some of our QSIS middle and secondary students headed south through Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania before reaching Greece. There, they took in some of Greece’s most iconic landmarks, including the Acropolis, the Corinth Canal, and the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. History is easier to understand when you are standing inside it, on a trip you will still be talking about years from now.

For Week Without Walls, some of our 8-10 year olds spent five wonderful days at Pegasus Horse Farm. Activities included horseback riding, animal care, soft archery, orienteering, knot tying, tent pitching, and nature crafts. A daily reflection journal kept it all together. Plenty of firsts, and a lot to write about! 🅺🆁🅲 🅿🅴🅶🅰🆂🅾🆂

Week Without Walls for some of our 6-7YOC meant five days outside and in motion. Sports Week took them through ball games, nature play, ‘wheels day’, swimming, and racket sports. Every day had a different focus, and for many, at least one activity they had never tried before. Five days well spent!

This week, QSI Sarajevo students are taking part in Week Without Walls, a set of themed trips and activities built around experiential learning.
On one of those trips - ‘Outdoor Adventure’ - students hiked through Sutjeska National Park, summitted Bregoč, the highest peak of the Zelengora range, visited alpine lakes, and walked through Perucica, one of the last primeval forests in Europe.
