Immediately after our trip to Konjic, we gathered for the closing ceremony, marking the end of an unforgettable journey.

We had the honor of hearing from Hajdi Mostić, representing the Telemach Foundation, and from members of our Organizing Committee, Asja Ćatić, Rastko Stanković, and Damjan Stanković. The ceremony was closed with a heartfelt message from Boris Stanković, leaving us all inspired.

We awarded exclusive MBL stash to winners of various camp activities, including the Icebreakers, Trivia Quiz, Relays, the Jane Street Estimathon, and the MBL Kahoot. We also took the opportunity to recognize the amazing efforts of those who organized Camper Talks and Evening Activities. A special thanks goes out to Jane Street for sponsoring some of the prizes.

With the formal part being left behind, the night continued with the traditional MBL all-nighter, a time for laughter, music, games, and heartfelt goodbyes.

To all our participants: thank you for bringing your energy, passion, and curiosity to MBL Balkans this year. We hope these ten days have sparked new friendships, inspired new ideas, and created memories that will stay with you for years to come. Until next time, whether you return as participants or future tutors, we can’t wait to see where your path leads, and we hope it brings you back to MBL Balkans!

On the final day, also being the second special day of the camp, we organized a walk through the beautiful city of Konjic. Participants were given a choice between taking either a scenic hike offering breathtaking views of the surrounding nature, or a stroll through the streets of the city, where they could explore its history.

Both groups had a great time, enjoying the natural beauty and learning more about the culture. Take a look at some of the moments captured along the way!

We want to take a moment to thank our generous sponsor, Jane Street, for their continued support!

This year, we were thrilled to have Jane Street’s signature event, the Estimathon, as part of our program. This event was made possible thanks to the efforts of Szymon, Jane Street representative and international MBL organizer.

The Estimathon offered participants the opportunity to collaborate in teams and tackle a series of fast-paced, thought-provoking estimation problems, combining critical thinking, teamwork, and fun.

We are truly grateful to Szymon and the entire organizing team for helping create such a memorable and engaging experience.

It’s time to look back on the second block of lessons!

We are honored to have been joined by such passionate and dedicated tutors, whose energy and creativity made learning both engaging and fun.

This block started with a deep dive into Functional programming, Topology of surfaces and Additive combinatorics. As midday came around, participants explored Mathematical logic, Number theory and Electromagnetism. The afternoons offered a chance to discover Mathematical modeling, Quantum computing and Ergodic theory.

We are also grateful to have heard from Jakub, Michał, and Sofia, who gave insightful Camper talks that sparked curiosity and discussion. A huge thank you to each of them for sharing their knowledge!

Our evenings were just as exciting, featuring an origami workshop, tea time and a cryptography challenge, there was something for everyone. We’re incredibly grateful to Krzysztof, Jakub and Luis for organizing and leading these activities with such enthusiasm.

Participants also came together for some fun team events, including Waltz night, the Jane Street Estimathon and a MBL-themed Kahoot quiz. We thank Sofia and the rest of the organizing team for making them happen.

We want to thank Owen fir introducing the idea of letterboards. They were a fun and meaningful way for everyone to share messages with each other. They gave participants and organizers a chance to leave letters, whether it was a thank-you note, a shoutout, or just something kind to brighten someone’s day. It was a simple way to connect, show appreciation, and make this experience even more special and memorable, with something to look back on later.

Lastly, a heartfelt thanks to Till and Ines for capturing the spirit of this block’s activites so beautifully through their photography.

The trip to Sarajevo took place on the first special day of camp. ☀️

As we explored the streets of Baščaršija, we experienced the blend of Eastern and Western influences that make Sarajevo so unique. After our guided tour, which was filled with stories of Sarajevo’s diverse history, we enjoyed a traditional Bosnian lunch that added a nice touch to the experience.

We would like to sincerely thank our sponsor for making this unforgettable trip to Sarajevo possible for our participants. Your generous support gave us the opportunity to explore a city full of history and culture, and to create memories that will stay with us for a long time.

The first block of lessons has officially concluded, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how it all went!

We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the tutors who generously dedicated their time and expertise to make this first block such a success.

Throughout the morning sessions, participants had the opportunity to explore fascinating subjects such as Real Analysis, Group Theory, and the Theory of Computation. The midday slots offered deep dives into Probabilistic Programming, Homotopy Theory, and Number Theory. In the afternoon, students delved into Probability and Statistics, Geometric Optimization, and Algebra.

In addition to the structured lessons, students had the chance to participate in Camper Talks, where they could present topics of their own choice to the group. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Faith, Andreas, and Owen for organizing such thought-provoking and enjoyable Camper Talks during the first block.

Evenings were filled with exciting non-mathematical activities, offering a chance for everyone to relax and bond outside the classroom. From crafting paper stars to Georgian dancing and an information battle, there was something for everyone. A big thank you to Josephina, Manana, and Hector for sharing their passions and helping others engage in these unique activities.

Sports enthusiasts also had their share of fun, with football, tennis, billiards and table tennis games, along with board game nights for those who preferred a more relaxed atmosphere.

The highlight of the week, however, were undoubtedly the Icebreakers, Cultural Night, the Trivia Quiz, and Karaoke Night, which provided memorable moments of laughter and connection. A special thank you to Jianchen Mi, Leia, and all the organizers who worked hard to bring these events to life.

Finally, we would like to thank Till for capturing these unforgettable moments.

As we reflect on this incredible first block, we are filled with excitement for what lies ahead.
