Kid'n Around Early Education Centre, Yowie Bay

We had such a wonderful morning visiting Yowie Bay Public School for their Little Yowie’s library session, last week.

The children loved listening to the story Lunaroo, creating their own masks, and drawing together. There was so much excitement exploring the library shelves, we even borrowed books to bring back and enjoy at the service. A beautiful excursion filled with curiosity, creativity, and community.

During Reconciliation Week, the children engaged in rich, hands‑on experiences that honoured First Nations stories, art, and ways of knowing.
Together we painted the Rainbow Serpent, explored the tale of Tiddalick the Frog, and gathered for outdoor story time to listen and reflect. The children also practiced sand drawing, experimenting with symbols and patterns inspired by Country.

These shared moments supported connection, curiosity, and respect as we learned alongside one another.

Our little scientists explored a magical “frog pond” sensory setup, complete with squishy chia‑seed “frog eggs”, icy frozen peas and ice cubes. The children were deeply engaged as they scooped, poured, filled bottles, and watched the textures change in their hands.

Through this simple invitation to play, they experimented with early science concepts of cause and effect, temperature, volume, and texture, while also strengthening fine‑motor skills and engaging in imaginative storytelling about frogs, ponds, and tiny creatures that might be hiding beneath the water.

A beautiful blend of curiosity, creativity, and hands‑on learning.

The children had an absolute blast exploring our HART throwing activity as part of our munch and move program.

The simple but exciting set up supported a range of developing skills, from hand-eye coordination and gross motor strength, to turn taking, patience and confidence.

What made the activity even more special was the way the children encouraged one another, cheering loudly for every successful throw or offering encouragement. It was a beautiful reminder of how movement, teamwork and joy come together in the outdoor space.
