Congratulations to all parents who's child started school for the first time today. I remember being surprised by how difficult this experience was for me emotionally. If you were like me and didn't handle yourself as well as you hoped or expected it's ok. My children were not scarred for life. I hope you find it easier tomorrow. Here is a link to an article to help support a child you know to wear a mask. theconversation.com/cant-get-your-kid-to-wear-a-mask-here-are-5-things-you-can-try-166648 It's got great ideas for all children and links to a couple of short YouTube videos. On Friday the state government announced mandatory wearing of masks in school for children from grade 3 up when indoors.

One of the best things you can do to encourage your kids to mask up is to model wearing one. There are other things you can try too.

Parents of young children may find the following links helpful if they would like to try their child wearing a Covid face mask. Keep in mind your child is more likely to co-operate if it is fun.
The Conversation online has an article 'Cant get your kid to wear a mask?'

The Australian Childhood Foundation has printable stories about adults wearing face masks that can easily be adapted. They are on the websites Resources tab. 'Peek A Boo Faces' for younger children and 'Super Heroes Like Us' for older kids.
