FUTURE SCHOOL LEADERS >> Yesterday, our Year 11 students stepped up at assembly to deliver their leadership speeches as they put themselves forward for 2027 School Captain and School Leader, and House Captain roles.

Standing in front of their peers and teachers, our students shared their ideas, their vision for the school and what leadership at Yeronga State High School means to them.

Leadership is about more than a title - it’s about service, responsibility, courage and making a positive difference to our school community. We’re proud of every student who had the confidence to stand up, share their voice and take on this challenge.

We look forward to seeing our 2027 student leaders continue to Thrive, inspire others and help shape the future of our school. 😊💚💛

V8 Supercars experience! 🏎️🔥

Our students had an action-packed excursion to the V8 Supercars event last week! And yes… they spotted Lightning McQueen 👀⚡️

We also asked our students about their experience with the Top Blokes Foundation. 😊💚💛

COMMUNITY >> On Saturday, our wonderful Yeronga State High School students headed to the Yeronga State School Fete to lend a helping hand and give back to our local community.

Our students supported a range of stalls and activities throughout the day, showing initiative, teamwork and a genuine willingness to get involved. Our School Captains also took the opportunity to connect with families, walking around the fete and sharing Yeronga SHS gift bags with students and parents.

It was fantastic to see our students stepping up as young leaders and representing our school with pride.

A big thank you to Yeronga State School for inviting our students to be part of such a wonderful community event. We’re proud to see our students giving back, leading by example and building strong connections across our local community. 😊💚💛

Celebrating Science Week at Yeronga SHS! >> On Wednesday 19 August, our Year 11 Mathematical Methods students had the opportunity to hear from Lauren McQueen, a Photonics Engineer with CSIRO and our partner through the STEM Professionals in Schools program.

Lauren shared her inspiring journey into STEM and introduced students to the fascinating world of photonics - the science and technology of using light to solve real-world problems.

Students explored how photonics is used in everyday technologies and cutting-edge innovation, including communications, medical devices, environmental monitoring and advanced manufacturing.

Lauren also brought the classroom to life by demonstrating real world applications of mathematics, helping students see how the concepts they are learning can be applied to solve problems and drive innovation.

A fantastic opportunity for our students to connect their classroom learning with the exciting possibilities of STEM careers! 😊💚💛

FAB FRIDAY - BULLYING NO WAY >> 🧡💜 Today, our Yeronga SHS community came together for FAB Friday, wearing orange and/or purple to recognise Bullying No Way Week and show our commitment to creating a school where everyone feels safe, included, respected and supported.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, our students and staff took part in Bullying No Way activities, creating opportunities to talk about respectful relationships, inclusion and the important role we all play in making our school a positive place for everyone.

Today’s colours were a powerful reminder that there is no place for bullying at Yeronga SHS.

Thank you to everyone who got involved this week and helped us stand together, speak up and show that everyone belongs. 😊💚💛
