BOOKS, CHARACTERS & A WHOLE LOT OF COLOUR!
What a brilliant day of costume, colour and creativity as our awesome students embraced our Book Week themed free dress day. From favourite book characters to movie legends and everything wonderfully random in between, our students certainly brought the fun! The fashion parade at break was a definite highlight and judging by the smiles, there were some serious character transformations happening. Best of all, those generous gold coin donations will support our partnership with the local CWA, helping provide care packs to local people in our community who are doing it tough. 💛
A day of dressing up, having fun and doing good.
That’s a story worth telling!

Cuppas, Characters & Community! 💚
A huge shout-out to our Student Action Group and Senior students who helped make another Cuppas for Kelton a rip-roaring success! Coinciding with our Book Week themed day, staff and students could enjoy a steaming hot choccy or coffee — served with plenty of smiles by none other than a Fairy and Donkey. What better way to celebrate books, community and kindness than coming together for a great cause?Different people. Different talents. One amazing community. Together, we succeed.

A huge shout-out to our Student Action Group members who once again gave their time to support another iCare Lunch. Our students spent time chatting, listening, laughing and connecting with members of our community who can sometimes experience loneliness and isolation — working alongside wonderful volunteers to make everyone feel welcome. It’s a pretty special intergenerational opportunity: young people sharing their energy, stories and smiles, while learning from the experiences of others. Small moments. Genuine connections. Big impact.

Congratulations!

Ali recently travelled to Nissan Arena in Brisbane to compete at The Golden Gloves boxing tournament. A huge week of competition with 3 rings, 3 sessions a day with 900 + boxers and 600 + fights. Ali competed in 2 fights against Victoria and New Zealand coming away winning Gold in the U17 54kg division.

Congratulations
Sienna competed last week in Mackay at the Capricornia School Athletics, running the 200m and 100m race. She placed for the 100m (3rd), making all school states in October, while also placing 4th in the 200m.

Ava and Ella competed last week at the Capricornia School Athletics trials in Mackay and have qualified for States later this year.

Ava: Bronze in Triple Jump, qualifying for States in Triple Jump and the 100m.
Ella: Gold in Triple Jump and Silver in Long Jump and the 100m, qualifying for States in all three events.

YSHS students are growing into global citizens.

Here are some photos capturing how our YSHS students acted as ambassadors, introducing our visitors from Wako High School to authentic Australian school life.

Wako students attended regular classes alongside their school buddies and enjoyed a wonderful range of activities. These included enjoying delicious food prepared by our Hospitality students for the annual Cultural Food Fair, dancing together, playing games, sharing snacks, taking part in a NAIDOC 2026 craft activity, and writing “50 years” in Japanese and decorating the script in a deadly way — and so much more!
A huge well done to our YSHS students for their outstanding ambassadorship!

The official welcome from MP Nigel Hutton and Mayor Adam Belot was warmly received and helped our visitors feel welcomed by the wider community. Arigatou gozaimasu!
