Dear Families,

What a wonderful week of learning, connection and celebration at Berinba.

One of the greatest privileges of being Principal is seeing the small moments that happen every day a child finding confidence, showing kindness, persevering through a challenge or feeling proud of something they have achieved. These moments remind us that learning is about so much more than what happens on a page.

Our Book Week celebrations were a wonderful way to finish the week, bringing our community together through stories, imagination and plenty of smiles.

Please find attached our latest Berinba Broadcast.

Thank you, as always, to our families for walking alongside us. Together, we continue to create a school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to believe in what is possible.

Science Fair at Berinba

What an incredible day of science, curiosity and discovery at our school.

Today our students had the opportunity to share their amazing Science Fair projects, explain their thinking, test ideas and showcase the learning they have been working so hard on.

We loved seeing our students so confidently sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for science. Their curiosity, creativity and willingness to ask “I wonder…” made today such a special celebration of learning.

A huge Berinba shout-out to our students for their fantastic efforts.

🫧🔬 POP! Kindergarten Became Bubble Scientists! 🔬🫧
Our big investigation question was:
How can we make bubbles that last the longest?
Inspired by Play School Science Time: Bubble Superpowers, our bubbly scientists rolled up their sleeves and tested three special mixtures:
A = Water + dishwashing liquid
B= Water + dishwashing liquid + sugar + bicarbonate of soda
C= All of the above + glycerine
After making their hypotheses, our scientists predicted that Mixture C would have bubble superpowers! 🦸‍♀️🫧
We mixed, blew, watched and waited…and waited…and waited…
POP! Our champion bubble finally burst after lasting for just over one whole minute! Our prediction was correct! 🎉
Next, science and art collided! Students blew and popped colourful bubbles onto paper to create spectacular bubble-inspired artworks capturing the experimental process. They also discovered how to make bubbles using their hands and even how to gently poke a bubble without popping it!
It was a bubble-tastic day filled with predicting, experimenting, observing, creating and lots of giggles. Our Kindergarten scientists had an un-BUBBLE-lievable time! 🫧🧪🎨

2W and 4B had a wonderful time learning together this morning with Mrs Blake and Mr Wright, enjoying a special art lesson focused on Cubism and emotion in art.

Inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso, our students explored how artists can use shapes, colours, lines and different perspectives to express feelings and ideas. There was plenty of creativity, imagination and some truly amazing artworks taking shape.

It was especially wonderful to see our two classes come together sharing ideas, encouraging one another, having a few laughs and enjoying the opportunity to create and learn side by side.

A beautiful afternoon of creativity, connection and learning together at Berinba

Book Week is almost here...

Our incredible Teacher Librarian, Ms Penny Scown, is very excited to share what we have planned for Book Week 2026 – Symphony of Stories.

Get ready for a magical week celebrating books, imagination and storytelling, including our much-loved Yass community Book Week Street Parade, as well as a very special author visit from Dr Cameron Stelzer

We are also delighted to share that Berinba Public School will be covering the full cost of the author visit, ensuring every student has the opportunity to participate and enjoy this special experience at no cost to families.

Ms Scown has been working behind the scenes to make Book Week a wonderful celebration for our students, and we can’t wait to see Berinba come alive with favourite characters, colourful costumes and a shared love of reading.

Additionally, please see the Library Calendar attached for even more exciting events, activities and opportunities happening in our Library throughout Book Week.

Let the Symphony of Stories begin.

Small Acts, Big Impact

Today, our Kindergarten students connected with Kids Helpline for an engaging session about bullying prevention.

Students learned that bullying involves repeated, intentional behaviour and an imbalance of power. They explored how this differs from disagreements, accidents and one-off conflicts that can sometimes occur between peers. These experiences are developmentally appropriate opportunities for children to learn how to navigate social situations, solve problems and repair relationships.

The main focus of the lesson was taking back our power. Students learned that although we cannot control another person’s choices, we can choose how we respond, move to safety, use confident words and seek help from a trusted adult.
We were introduced to two special characters:
Bolt helped us learn how to take back our power and respond safely when someone is bullying us.

Misty, our up stander character, showed us how we can safely stand up to bullying and support others.
Students explored simple scenarios and practised the Pause, Choose, Act strategy:
Pause and take a moment.
Choose a safe and helpful response.
Act on that choice or seek help from a trusted adult.
This week is Bullying No Way Week, and the 2026 theme is Small Acts, Big Impact. Small actions such as including someone, speaking up and showing kindness can make a meaningful difference in our school and community.
Families looking for resources to continue these important conversations at home can visit:

A big thank you to Kids Helpline for helping our students develop the skills and confidence to take back their power and contribute to a safe, kind and inclusive school community.
