🌎 Earth Day 🌱
As an educator you plan, plan, plan experiences relating to significant dates of the year. However more often than not the children will engage for a split second and another activity will take their attention.
We reflected on Earth Day and took a look around our space as to what we do that assists our 🌎
One of the main contributors that come from Kay’s Care towards aiding the 🌎 has definitely been up-cycling resources. Giving items a new lease of life and loving them hard!
Here are a few back stories
- a sandpit ⛵️ of marketplace which we have had countless adventures on
- bikes 🚲 from the green shed and a garage sale to fly down the hill providing multiple heart attacks but endless fun
- repainted childhood bookshelf that my dad made & a BSS page 💎 in the Adair children chair
- Our fantastic change table/multi use draws that provide out of reach places. I had been wanting this change table specifically from IKEA and during COVID it became unavailable and then discontinued 😞 but it was meant to be, another marketplace score.
- a very successful haul from another FDC with multiple resources that meant we were able to gain so many more resources for an amazing price including sensory items, imaginative play resources and science etc
- a recently added 💎 a cane lounge from our photographer that the children absolutely adore (the photographer of course but mainly the cane lounge)
- refurbished seating that has been used in many ways from Ross’s Relics
& the most special piece of all is our dining table. This dining table was made by our builder grandfather, who also built our home in which Kay’s Care is located. Many, many meals, play and craft take place at this table and it is a very special place to come together as a group.
So our message is, we celebrate Earth Day 🌎 daily and make a conscious effort to gather things of purpose.
