One of the strangest parts of healing, is realising how many things you believed about yourself were actually survival strategies.

Being independent.
Never asking for help.
Always being the strong one.

For years, it feels normal.

Until you start questioning it.

What if your worth isn’t measured by how much you carry?

What if rest doesn’t need to be earned?

What if you’ve been enough all along?

Healing doesn’t always give you answers.

Sometimes it simply gives you permission to stop believing the stories that were never yours to begin with.

And that changes everything.

One of the hardest parts of healing, is realising how
much of your personality was actually survival.

Being easy to talk to.
Never asking for too much.
Always understanding everyone else.
Always staying calm.

You become so good at carrying things quietly,
people start believing you’re unaffected by them.

And eventually, you start believing it too.

Until one day your body says:
“I can’t do this the same way anymore.”

Not because you’re weak.

Because you were never supposed to carry this much alone.

Healing isn’t always dramatic.
Sometimes it’s just learning that you’re allowed to have needs too.

Allowed to rest.
Allowed to feel hurt.
Allowed to stop pretending everything is fine.

And maybe that’s where real healing begins.

Not in becoming someone new.

But in finally allowing yourself
to become human again.

Sometimes people don’t realise how tired they are…because being “the strong one” became their personality.

The reliable one.
The calm one.
The one who keeps functioning.
Keeps helping.
Keeps showing up.

Even when internally they feel like they’re running on fumes.

I think many people learned very early in life that their feelings were inconvenient. So instead of expressing pain…they learned to carry it quietly.

To minimise it.
Laugh it off.
Push through.
Pretend they were okay because other people needed them to be.

But eventually the body keeps score.

The exhaustion shows up.
The anxiety shows up.
The emotional numbness shows up.

And sometimes healing starts with something very simple:

Allowing yourself to admit…
“This has been hard on me.”

Not dramatic.
Not attention-seeking.
Just honest.

Some people become experts at looking okay.

They go to work.
Reply to messages.
Make dinner.
Smile in conversations.
Show up when people need them.

And all the while, they’re quietly carrying a level of exhaustion nobody can see.

Not laziness.
Not weakness.
Not failure.

Just the weight of holding yourself together for too long without feeling safe enough to fall apart.

I think a lot of healing begins the moment you stop asking: “What’s wrong with me?”and start asking:
“What happened to me that made survival feel necessary all the time?”

Because sometimes the strongest people aren’t the loudest ones.

They’re the ones silently fighting battles while still trying to protect everyone around them.

One of the strangest parts of healing

is realising how much energy you spent trying to appear okay.

Not just to other people.
To yourself.

You learn to minimise things.
Explain them away.
Push through.
Keep functioning.

Because life keeps moving.
And somewhere along the way, survival starts feeling normal.

Until your body gets tired.
Your mind gets tired.
Your soul gets tired.

And eventually you reach a point where you can't keep carrying yourself the same way anymore.

Not because you're weak.

Because you've been strong for too long without softness.
Without rest.
Without understanding.

I think a lot of people are walking around carrying invisible exhaustion that nobody sees.

Including themselves.

It wasn’t just the highs and lows.

It was how normal everything had to look in between.

Smiling when nothing felt steady. Keeping up conversations while your mind was somewhere else entirely. Trying to act like you were okay, when you didn’t even know what “okay” was meant to feel like.

And the strange part is, you get good at it.

So good that people don’t question it. Sometimes not even you do.

Until one day, something shifts.

And you realise, you weren’t just managing life.

You were managing yourself, every single day.

Not everything that looks steady, is.

Since childhood, I lived inside a mind I didn’t quite understand.

From the outside, things looked fine, even put together.
But underneath, it wasn’t.

There were highs that didn’t make sense. Lows I couldn’t explain.

And a constant feeling of trying to keep up with something that kept shifting.

All my life, I thought it was just me.

No name for it. No real understanding. Just learning how to get through it.

This is only a small part of what I’ve lived…A road less travelled that I didn’t choose, but walked anyway.

Not everything that returns is meant to stay.

Sometimes old thoughts come back, old feelings,
old patterns that once felt like home.

And for a moment, it’s familiar.

You almost step back into it without thinking.

But something pauses you.

Not fear.
Not force.

Just awareness.

You see it now for what it is,
not what it once meant.

And instead of fighting it, or falling into it,
you let it pass.

That’s how you know.

It’s not about never revisiting the past,
it’s about no longer living there.

Quietly, without needing to announce it,
you’ve outgrown it.

You don’t always notice the moment things change.

There’s no big turning point. No sudden clarity that announces itself.

Just small things.

You react a little less. You sit a little longer in the quiet.

What used to feel heavy, doesn’t land the same way anymore.

And one day, almost without thinking, you realise, you’re not carrying it.

Not because you forced yourself to let go, but because it no longer fits who you are.

There’s no rush to explain it. No need to prove anything.

Just a quiet understanding, you’ve moved.

Not everything you let go of needs to be replaced.

Some things were never meant to be filled again,
because they weren’t empty spaces.

They were weight.

And once it’s gone,
you notice something different.

Not excitement.
Not instant clarity.

Just, space.

Space to breathe.
Space to think.
Space to be, without carrying what was never yours to keep.

And in that space,
you don’t rush.

Because for the first time in a while,
you’re not trying to fix anything.

You’re just, here.
