๐Ÿ“ฃ YEAR 10 SET PLAN MEETING REMINDER

A reminder that Year 10 SET Plan meetings will be held on Wednesday 12 August.

๐Ÿšซ There will be no regular Year 10 classes on this day.

Students are only expected to attend school for their booked SET Plan meeting and must attend with a parent or carer.

SET Planning is a mandatory part of the transition from Year 10 and provides an important opportunity to discuss each studentโ€™s pathway into senior schooling, training, employment or alternative education.

This meeting is important even if your child does not intend to return to YSSC for Years 11 and 12.

What an incredible day! Yesterday we were excited to welcome 12 primary schools and 179 primary school students to Yarrabilba State Secondary College for our annual Primary School Esports Competition.

Students spent the day competing across 7 exciting games:

It was fantastic to see students demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the day. They managed their time well, supported one another and embraced the friendly competition across every event.

A huge congratulations to Jimboomba State School (Education Dept. Approved), who were crowned our Overall School Champions! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘

We are also incredibly proud of our YSSC Esports Academy students, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver the event. They demonstrated outstanding leadership, problem-solving, communication, organisation and professionalism while ensuring the day ran smoothly for all competitors.

Last Friday, our Blue Tongues Touch Football students hosted day 1 of the 2026 'Yarrabilba Cup' Touch Football Carnival.

The Yarrabilba Cup is a series of 2 days where we invite our local primary school partners to visit our school and spend time playing and learning about Touch Football. On Day 1 our students completed all of their round games, as well as participating in 4 different development stations, breaking down core Touch Football skills such as passing & catching, the roll ball and rucking, defensive positioning and agility skills.

Later in the month students will return for the finals day. On this day we will have all of our semi final, finals and positioning games to work out 'Girls Champion School', 'Boys Champion School' and 'Overall Champion School'. On top of those team and school honours, individual students will be facing off to see who can be the fastest through the 'skills challenge' course and become the individual skills champion in 2026.

The Triple A School-Based Traineeship Program gives First Nations students the opportunity to gain real workplace experience, build valuable skills, and work towards a recognised qualification while still at school.

Students can develop confidence, make industry connections, and explore future career pathways through hands-on learning and support from the Triple A team.

A 3-day work experience placement is also available for students who want to find out more and see if this opportunity is the right fit.

This afternoon, the YSSC Blue Tongues Basketball Team welcomed back our 2025 graduates to compete in the inaugural Alumni Exhibition Match.

Our current Opens Boys Basketball team competed fiercely against some much bigger and more experienced opponents but ultimately came out on top to claim victory over the Young vs Old debate, 66-52.

It was a great event and weโ€™re very appreciative of the graduates who took the time out to make it possible. We canโ€™t wait to see what next yearโ€™s match will bring.
