Natural Yamba

Natural Yamba Natural Yamba shares ideas and simple actions we can do to keep our Lower Clarence town of Yamba and our environment naturally beautiful. Natural Yamba.

For over one year my mission in was to live without putting out a rubbish bin, and to reduce my own impact on the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling waste. Anything I could not recycle I made into art works. I later ran workshops for community to do the same. Lucky to have experienced visiting my grandparents' farm I saw their use of resources from the land, the inventions of my grandf

ather and the household creations of my grandmother to feed and clothe their children plus visiting shearers and stories told by my mother growing up on the farm of her experiences. My other grandfather was a baker. I have the book of recipes my father cooked and the stories of survival in hard times. Collections of nature magazines and cuttings in the 1970s and skills learnt living regional led to a reuse lifestyle after seeing the waste where I grew up working in the city. Plastic is a material produced from petroleum which is a finite resource which takes millions of years to be made. Like where does milk come from, there is a need to educate people of the damage that some practices can cause in our everday lives. We alone are responsible for our actions from cradle to grave and the next generations of animals (including humans), plants and the minerals of the land and oceans.
