Hello, we are a wholesale native plant nursery, our focus is tube stock. All sales need to be by appoinment only, due to the nature of the site.

We do revegetation work, everything from growing local seed to preparing the land to fencing and planting.

Acacia verniciflua, also known as varnish wattle, is a small shrub growing 1-4m high. It grows mainly in dry woodlands and forests and is local to our area.

The varnish wattle grows best in full sun, in well drained positions in most soil types. The flowers are golden-yellow and appear in August to October. Tolerating moderate frost and extended dry periods, it proves itself very hardy.

This wattle is useful as a wind break, controlling soil erosion and improves soil fertility by fixing nitrogen.

The seeds and pods have historically been used as food source, and fun piece of trivia! The leaves aren’t actually leaves, but flattened branches that conserve water better than leaves, perfect for our weather.

Today we’re talking about Eucaluptus camaldulensis - River Red Gum.

Typically grows to 20m, can grow to 45m. The adult tree has a smooth white or cream trunk and patches of yellow, pink or brown. This species has the widest natural distribution of any Eucalyptus, usually found along waterways and floodplains.

Camaldulensis prefers clay soils with well watered sub-soil. This tree provides habitats for many fauna, from fish to birds and are an important part of river and creek ecosystems.

This Eucalyptus flowers from late spring to mid-summer and has many uses, including construction, flooring, fencing, firewood and honey production.

Just remember not to camp or picnic under them!

For this beautiful day we have Crowea exalata - Waxflower. This gorgeous low shrub grows to a height of 40cm and width of 70cm. It grows in a wide variety of soils and potting mix, in well drained to moist locations. It also suits sunny, lightly shaded and half shade homes.

It is used in cut flower arrangements and erosion control. Its compact size makes it perfect for courtyards, pots, rockeries and anywhere you need a vibrant pop of colour!

Tolerates light frost and attracts our local bees and birds with its bright pink flowers from late summer through winter.

A favorite at SCT - Acaena novae-zelandiae or Bidgee widgee, is a perennial running herb growing to 10cm high and 1m wide. It has fern like leaves and single round flower heads with small green flowers in spring through summer.

Thrives in damp soils but can survive dry conditions, in full sun to part shade. A beautiful soil-binding groundcover, we have several thriving in large pots.

The leaves were traditionally used to make a medicinal tea!

Welcome back everybody! Today we have a wonderful wetland plant to share with you! Our Mixed Juncus species are thriving in this weather. Commonly known as rushes, the genus has around 300 species! Incredibly hardy, they thrive in the margins of waterways, ponds, dams and marshes.

Juncus plants help improve water quality by filtering out contaminants and trapping sediment. Some species have been shown to have high rates of nitrogen fixation!

They are ideal for revegetation, stabilisation of banks, controlling erosion and provide the perfect habitat for birds and frogs. They are able to tolerate frost and drought once established. Truly a wondrous native!

This strange looking specimen is Eryngium ovinum - Blue Devil. It is a clumping perennial often found in grasslands and temperate woodlands.

It grows in late winter, flowers over summer and dies back again in autumn. Its beautiful blue spiky flowers make great cut flowers, fresh and dried. And it is used in essential oils.

Grows to a height of 70cm and width of 80cm, it prefers loamy, well drained soils. Tolerates drought and heavy frosts. Loved by the native insects, the Blue Devil would certainly be a talking piece in the garden!

Today we bring you Leptospermum obovatum ‘Starry Night’ or Starry Night Tea Tree.

It has this gorgeous purple coloured new foliage and bursts with delicate white flowers in late spring and summer.

It grows to a height of 2.5m and a width of 1.8m, thrives in well drained loamy soils in open, sunny positions and will tolerate dappled shade, drought and light frost.

Its dense foliage makes a great screen, a nesting place for birds, and its flowers draw in the bees and butterflies. It’s also used in cut flowers, grown in large pots and is simply gorgeous.

Today we have Myoporum parvifolium, broad and narrow leaf. Commonly known as Creeping Boobialla.

A beautiful, w**d suppressing, dense ground cover. These delicate white flowers appear mainly in summer but can spot through during spring and Autumn.

Hardy in a wide range of soils and climates, it prefers full sun and is tolerant of drought and light frost.

Growing to a width of 2m and height of 30cm, the fast growing Boobialla suits a wide range of uses and attracts the local birds, bees and butterflies to your garden!

Plant of the week is the Callistemon ‘Candy Pink’ with its gorgeous hot pink - red flowers for most of the year and weeping foliage, it makes a great show piece in the garden. Even better, it’s very forgiving and will tolerate most soil types and moisture content, prefers dappled shade to full sun, with a good mulch layer it’ll also tolerate drought and light frost. This bottlebrush would suit as a feature plant, screening or erosion control, coastal gardens and playgrounds. Grows up to 4m high and 2.5m wide, this stunner attracts plenty of bees, birds and butterflies!

This stunner is Hibbertia procumbens, or Spreading Guinea Flower. Native to the south-east of Australia it has unfortunately reached the endangered species list. It is a prostrate, spreading shrub with a width of 1m and height of 20cm. Drought tolerant once established, it prefers well drained soils in sunny to partly shady environments. Its bright yellow flowers make a big impact in spring and sporadically through the rest of the year. Ours is very happy in a pot, would also suit borders, rockeries and slopes. What a stunning addition to any garden and a boost to our beautiful native environment!
