We run value-based school seminars and online courses educating students, parents and teachers on the topics of sexuality and relationships for young people.

In our work with students, we refer to Image-Based Abuse (IBA) as Image-Based Sexual Abuse (IBSA).

Why?

Because it’s not just inappropriate behaviour.
It’s not just “drama.”
It’s not just a mistake.

It is a crime.
And it is also a form of abuse.

It’s critical that young people understand both.

In our work with Year 8 students through to senior students, we consistently find that many young people are unfamiliar with the terminology “image-based abuse.”

Yet interestingly — most, if not all, can identify a real-life example where someone they know has been a victim of this crime.

The language may be unfamiliar.
The harm is not.

Education matters.
Conversations matter

Conversations are powerful. We’ve witnessed this first hand, time and time again. 🥹

Young people who have light-bulb moments about their friendships & relationships.

Parents who have a breakthrough during a conversation they never thought they’d be equipped to have.

Teachers who lead discussion groups & became a safe and trusted mentor for young people to turn to when challenges arise.

Why do we need to ask our kids permission before we take and post photos of them? 🤔

It’s such a simple yet effective way to model digital consent.

Make it a habit of asking:

“Is it ok if I take a photo of you right now? 📸

“Do you mind if I post this picture? 🤳

👉 This models empathy: thinking about how the other person might feel!

👉 This models respect: which is just as important online as it is off.

👉 This models safety: and positions you as a safe and trusted person.

2024 has been an incredibly full & glorious year doing what we love. 🤩

Together, our team has delivered:

329 seminars & spoken to over 29,760 young people 👏

We have witnessed powerful conversations between students & their peers.

We have heard powerful stories from parents who have had life-changing conversations with their kids.

We have been constantly inspired by educators around our country who are dedicated to pouring into the lives of their students with effective & transformative Respectful Relationships Education. 🥹

One of the most powerful aspects of our student programs that we will ALWAYS prioritise is ✨ personal reflection ✨

There’s something MAGIC 🤩🙌 that happens in the room when we wrap up a session & watch young people take their workbooks, their pens and find a space *on their own* to sit and think deeply about their own personal values & decisions.

⭐️ For some, it can be quite natural or even emotional.

⭐️ For others, it’s can challenging or it make take a while for them to find their groove & ignore distractions.

⭐️ For ALL, it’s an opportunity to ask some of life’s BIGGEST questions.

💭How do I build a life of character?

💭What qualities do I want to be known for?

💭When people describe me, what do I want them to say?

However, we also encourage young people to ask themselves the more challenging (yet necessary) questions. Like:

💭What do I need to work on?

💭What are some of the qualities I need to leave behind?

💭What obstacles am I facing personally that’s stopping me from experiencing healthy & positive friendships?

Every young personal deserves to develop real & meaningful connections with those around them…and self-reflection is a necessary & important skill to help them get there! 👏

Let’s take time as parents & educators to give young people an opportunity to reflect on who they are and who they want to be!
