No Sunday Training
I'm tied up for the next three weekends. No Sunday training at Wynnum (iai &aikido) on 23 August, 30 August, and 6 September. Back to normal on 12 September.

Manners & Gestures 🌿:
Have you ever stopped to think about the way you carry yourself in everyday life—the way you move, gesture, and conduct yourself?

Walking, sitting, standing, picking something up, or handing something to another person—shosa refers to these small, everyday movements and gestures.

Although they may seem insignificant, these simple actions naturally reveal a person’s thoughtfulness, attentiveness, and consideration for others.

In the Japanese tea ceremony, great importance is placed on shosa. This is not simply about making each movement look beautiful or graceful.

Rather, by performing each gesture with care and mindfulness, we can express without words:
“I value and respect you.”
“I hope you feel comfortable and welcome.”

When consideration for others is expressed through our movements, the heart becomes visible in our actions.

I believe this beautiful culture of allowing the heart to take form through our gestures is one of the wonderful traditions that Japan has cherished and passed down through generations🍵🇯🇵

所作🌿:
普段、何気なく行っている立ち振る舞いや身のこなし、しぐさ。皆さんは、ご自身の「所作」を意識されたことはありますか？

歩く、座る、立ち上がる、物を取る、渡すなど。所作とは、こうした日常の一つひとつの動作を指します。

そして、その何気ない動作には、その人の丁寧さや思いやり、相手を大切にする心が自然と表れるものです。

茶道では、この「所作」をとても大切にします。それは、動作の美しさだけを求めるものではありません。

一つひとつの所作を丁寧に行うことで、言葉にせずとも
「あなたを大切に思っています」
「どうぞ心地よくお過ごしください」
という気持ちを相手に伝えることができるからです。

相手を思いやる心が、動きとなって表れる。
そんな「心を形にする」所作の文化は、日本が大切にしてきた素晴らしい文化のひとつだと思います🍵🇯🇵

Further update on Iaido Championship attendees: Igarashi-sensei will be attending! 🇦🇺🇯🇵As many of you know, Igarashi-sensei has been a lifelong supporter of Australian Iaido, always happy to assist our members both locally and when they travel to Japan.
