Stories came to life across Moreton Bay College today as students and staff celebrated CBCA Book Week with colourful costumes, lively parades and plenty of enthusiasm for their favourite books.
Inspired by this year's theme, 'Symphony of Stories', students brought beloved characters to life and shared the stories that have captured their imaginations.
Book Week dress-up day is a celebration of the power of reading and storytelling. One of the highlights is seeing students share the characters and stories that have captured their imaginations.

Ahead of our Book Week dress-up parades on Friday, we're revisiting some of the literary characters who once filled the College grounds.
Before we introduced Book Week celebrations in 2022, girls attended Fancy Dress Balls dressed as their favourite book characters. From classic stories to modern favourites, these events were a colourful celebration of reading and imagination.

From exciting incursions in Primary to hands-on investigations in Secondary, science learning at Moreton Bay College encourages girls to explore, question and discover. π¬π±
Year 1 and Year 3 students recently enjoyed a Street Science incursion, where interactive experiments brought scientific concepts to life. The sessions supported learning within their How the World Works Units of Inquiry while encouraging curiosity, questioning and exploration.
During National Science Week, Secondary students participated in a range of lunchtime activities that showcased science in action. Girls created bioplastic keyrings, took part in dissections, explored questions in the Curiosity Lab and planted seeds in the Glasshouse to observe and track their growth over time.
Across the College, girls are developing scientific inquiry skills through authentic learning experiences that encourage them to investigate, predict, observe and problem-solve.

Vale Dr Bronwyn Herbert OAM π
Moreton Bay College remembers MBC Old Girl Dr Bronwyn Herbert (nΓ©e Irvine) OAM, who passed away on Friday evening surrounded by her family.
A proud alumna and dedicated advocate, Dr Herbert devoted her life to supporting victim-survivors of domestic and family violence and families experiencing homelessness. Her service was recognised with an OAM and as a 2009 MBC Medallist.
At 90, she completed her PhD, reflecting the determination, curiosity and lifelong love of learning that defined her life.
A devoted mother, grandmother, community member and proud Wynnum local, Bronwyn lived with purpose and generosity. While her achievements were significant, those who knew her will remember her kindness, compassion and commitment to others.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Herbert and Irvine families and honour the remarkable legacy she leaves behind. π©·

Our Year 10 Visual Art students recently had the exciting opportunity to work alongside artist Claudia Williams from Ilani Creative to develop innovative wearable art pieces exploring sustainability and social messages.
Through both collaborative and independent processes, students manipulated, deconstructed, reconstructed and reinvented a range of materials, transforming them into unique artworks that powerfully communicate their chosen themes and ideas.
Keep an eye out for these inspiring creations on display and see them brought to life by our student artists at this year's Greene-Ware Collective β Intersections: Where Creativity Meets Purpose.
