🏆 SACSA AFL: Premiership Glory for Golden Grove Lutheran!

What a day at West Beach! Well done to all our Year 3/4 and 5/6 students who represented Golden Grove Lutheran so proudly at the SACSA AFL carnival today.

And a massive congratulations to our 5/6 Boys team — PREMIERS! 🏆🎉 What an outstanding effort from every single player.

Thank you to all our wonderful families who made the trip to West Beach to cheer the students on — your support is immensely appreciated. And a huge thank you to Mr T, Mrs M, and Mr K for coaching our teams with such dedication and heart.

Every child has a story, and today, some of ours got their premiership chapter. 🏉

Congratulations, Golden Grove Lutheran!

Our Foundation to Year 2 students had a wonderful visit from Cat and the Kimochis! Kimochi means “feeling” in Japanese — and the session was all about helping our students understand and manage the big feelings we all experience sometimes.

Cat shared a story about a time she felt really cranky, and what she did to work through that hard-to-have feeling. Through her story, our students learned how to Name, Shrink, and Share their feelings, along with the importance of a genuine “sorry” when we make a mistake, how good it feels when someone accepts our apology, and the power of asking for a redo.

And of course, it wouldn’t be Kimochis without a whole lot of fun — students sang, danced, and played games along the way!

Thanks to our P&F for their amazing support of the event. Every child has a story, and every story includes hard feelings sometimes. We loved giving our students such a playful, practical way to understand theirs.

Author Visit with Heather Freeman

As part of our Book Week celebrations, our students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Heather Freeman, Adelaide-based children’s author and creator of Little Australian Stories, known for her beautiful books celebrating the Australian bush and wildlife.

The students absolutely loved hearing Heather’s stories, learning about her creative process, and discovering what it’s really like to be an author — turning imagination into books that other children get to read and love. 🐨📚

This special experience was made possible thanks to the generosity of a Golden Grove school family, who kindly supported this opportunity for our students.

Every child has a story — and this week, our students got to meet someone who’s turned that idea into a career. Thank you, Heather, for such an inspiring visit!

During week 5 and 6, students have participated in a range of science learning from creating chemical reactions with slime, identifying different features of rocks and digging for artefacts as geology detectives, constructing rockets with nose cones and fins, to engineering structures with bracing in earthquake zones. Our Golden Time provided opportunities for coding, investigating with light, engineering egg drop and pasta tower challenges, lego maze and marble run, helicopter construction to understand forces like gravity and air resistance. We encourage our students to ask why?, to stay curious, and keep exploring!

📖 A Morning Full of Stories: Community Breakfast & Book Week

What a joy-filled morning at Golden Grove Lutheran!

We kicked things off with a wonderful Community Breakfast, bringing together students, staff, and families for a warm start to the day. From there, the whole school came alive for our Book Week Parade — students, staff, and even parents dressed as their favourite characters, filling the Worship Centre with colour, creativity, and a whole lot of imagination! 🦸📚🧚

The morning finished with Read-a-Round, where students moved around the school listening to a range of stories read aloud in different locations — a beautiful reminder of just how many stories there are to discover, and how many different voices can bring them to life.

Every child has a story — and this morning was a celebration of all the stories that have shaped, inspired, and delighted them along the way. 📖✨
