🌿 School Raised Garden Bed Competition – Living Smart Festival 2026 🌿

A huge congratulations to our Green Team and all the students who contributed to our entry in the School Raised Garden Bed Competition at the Living Smart Festival 2026!

This was Wyee Public School’s first year entering, and we are incredibly proud of what our students created. From designing and building to painting, planting, and adding the finishing touches, it was a wonderful team effort.

While we didn’t take home the win, our garden received lots of votes and fantastic feedback! As participants, we also get to keep the raised garden bed at our school.

Most importantly, our students had the opportunity to work together, get creative, learn about sustainability, and create something they can be proud of.

A very big thank you to all our community volunteers and supporters who generously donated their time, skills, and materials, including those who helped with our vertical garden workshop, possum house, butterfly house, seed library, sugar glider house, beetle bunker, signage, bug hotels, donations, setup, transport, and pack-down.

K-6 Top Readers for Term 3

Congratulations to our top readers of Term 3! These dedicated students consistently engaged with books throughout the term, demonstrating a passion for reading. Their commitment was celebrated with a special morning tea hosted by Mrs Ellis and Mrs Cousins. Each student also received a book as a reward to celebrate.

Class of the Week 6C

It has been another wonderful and exciting term of learning in 6C! We have been researching influential Aboriginal people who have made a significant impact on Australia and are creating Google Sites, using multimodal features to enhance our work.

Exploring the features of 3D objects through real-world objects, nets and different viewpoints, while applying our knowledge of 2D shapes has been a focus in maths.

6C has been learning about democracy in Australia, including our government structure and how laws are made.

Creative arts has been a highlight this term, developing Greek Chorus performances in drama and creating mixed-media portraits of people who inspire us in visual arts.

We have also loved spending time with our Kindergarten buddies, reading together and supporting them during our Dhinewan Mentoring sessions. To top off a fantastic Term 3, the Mini Fete was another wonderful highlight and the perfect way to finish the term!

Mini Fete

On Wednesday, Stage 3 held their annual Mini Fete to raise funds for Year 6. Students and staff joined in the fun, participating in activities including face painting, nail painting, jewellery making, luck games and guessing competitions.

Well done to our Stage 3 students for the organisation and creativity they showed in planning their stalls, making resources and running their activities. Students and teachers had a wonderful time spending their tokens and enjoying everything the Mini Fete had to offer!

📚 Library Highlights 📚

It has been an exciting term in the library! We celebrated Book Week with our Book Character Parade and the Scholastic Book Fair. It was wonderful to see so many creative, homemade costumes on display. Our staff also embraced the theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’, dressing up as some of our favourite nursery rhyme characters.

In the library, our primary students have been exploring the information research process. They have been further developing their research skills and learning to present information using the creative tools available in Canva.

Our K–2 classes have been exploring the concept of past and present. Kindy students matched items used in the past with the items we use today. Stage 1 students explored how ancient structures were used in the past and compared them with modern structures we see today. They also began learning about the Great Barrier Reef, exploring its unique features and why it is so important to look after this natural wonder of the world.

Jarjum Rise

Last Friday, our Aboriginal students in Years 1–3 joined students from across the Western Shores Learning Alliance (WSLA) for the very first Jarjum Rise event.

Students enjoyed a wonderful day strengthening their cultural knowledge, connections and understanding. The day focused on the story of Tiddalick the Frog, with activities including dance, beading, art, Gunyah building and traditional games.

A special thank you to our Year 6 students Huxley, Azalea and Maysen, who demonstrated fantastic leadership by helping to facilitate activities throughout the day.
