NRMA Road Safety Show

On Tuesday all students participated in the NRMA Road Safety Show. Students learnt about the importance of seatbelts and wearing a helmet when riding a bike and skateboard. Students participated in role plays about driver distraction and inattentional blindness. There were many positive messages shared with students to help keep them safe.

Class of the Week 4/5C

4/5C have settled into Term 3 with a range of exciting activities and learning experiences which included the Book Week parade and ‘Plant a Tree Day’. We also welcomed Miss Carters from Newcastle University, who is completing her internship.

We are reading the novel ‘Wonder’ by R J Palacio and are engaging with the themes of belonging, kindness and perspective. This week, we composed thoughtful poems about the main character, August, and what belonging means in the story. 4/5C have shown effort, care and empathy in their writing. We will be publishing our poems next week using a digital platform.

Working as a team and applying movement strategies in small‑sided games has been a focus during PE. Confidence and communication on the field is growing each lesson. In creative arts, we have been learning about mime and creating and performing monologues.

We can’t wait to see what we can achieve over the remaining weeks of Term 3.

Class of the Week 1/2S

1/2S have had a great start to Term 3. We have been learning new phonemes in phonics and reading ‘Stay For Dinner’ by Sandhya Parappukkaran. Using onomatopoeia and alliteration in our writing to make it more entertaining has been a focus. In maths, we have been practising counting forwards and backwards on and off the decade and making groups of objects.

Studying waterways around the world, including oceans, lakes, and rivers, has been a highlight in geography. In science, we have been learning how to make a guitar from everyday items. We have been creating tableaus in drama based on known fairytales, and learning how to create texture and tone in visual arts.

We enjoyed participating in ‘Plant A Tree Day’ where we planted new shrubs to improve our school environment. Did you see our costumes at the book parade? They were amazing! We enjoyed inviting our parents into our classroom to play ‘King of the Circle’ after the parade.

🌱 National Science Week – Seeds of Science! 🌱

This National Science Week, our students became inventors and future innovators! They imagined creative inventions to solve everyday problems - from flying cars and chore-doing robots, to shoes that charge your phone.

Using the analogy of a seed, students learned that great ideas need time, imagination, and persistence to grow. Students wrote their invention ideas on colourful "seeds", adding them to our Seeds of Science collage displayed in each classroom window, creating a wonderful reminder that every great idea starts small!
