Woolgoolga High School Shines at NSW All Schools Athletics

Three Woolgoolga High School students competed against the best school athletes in the state at the 2026 NSW All Schools Athletics Championships, held from 26 to 29 September. Our students did a great job representing our school, with one outstanding result in particular.

Zoe Counter wins bronze and a national qualifier

The standout was Zoe Counter in the Girls 15 Years Hammer Throw. Zoe threw 39.99m, which earned her a bronze medal and a National Junior Qualifying distance. Throwing a qualifier at a state championship is a huge achievement, and it reflects the dedication and hard work Zoe has put into her training. Zoe also competed in the Girls 15 Years Shot Put, finishing 7th with a throw of 11.06m.

Jayden James impresses in the jumps

Jayden James had a strong meet in the Boys 17 Years jumps. He came 4th in the Triple Jump with 13.35m, just missing out on a medal. He also placed 6th in the Long Jump with 6.09m. Jayden ran the 100m too, clocking 11.65 (equal PB)

Austin Hundle takes on the 800m

Austin Hundle competed in the Boys 13 Years 800m. He finished 25th in a large and competitive field with a time of 2:34.05.

A big thank you also goes to the families and coaches who supported these 3 incredible athletes along the way.

Congratulations. We are very proud.

πŸŽ“πŸ’™ Farewell, Year 12 - Class of 2026 πŸ’™πŸŽ“

What a way to finish! Our Year 12s wrapped up their final week of school in style last week. It was a week full of laughs, memories and plenty of school spirit.

πŸ‘—πŸ•Ί Dress-up days brought out some seriously creative and fun outfits.
πŸ‰ Staff vs Students Touch Football: the students took the win this year! (Staff are already planning their comeback… πŸ˜…)
πŸŽ’ Getting Out There Day at Wiigulga saw everyone back in their old Primary School shirts, a great reminder of how far they've come!
🍿 Movie Night was a chance to kick back, relax and enjoy some time together.
🎯 Paintball was the perfect way to end the week, with a few bruises and a whole lot of fun.

It's been wonderful watching this group come together over the past six years. You've brought so much energy, kindness and character to our school, and you will truly be missed.

To our Year 12s: all the very best for your HSC! Study hard, back yourselves, and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. We're so proud of you. 🌟

We can't wait to celebrate with you again at the Graduation Ceremony and Formal following the HSC exams. πŸ₯‚βœ¨

⚽ Futsal Finals Success for Woolgoolga High School
It was a fantastic day of futsal for Woolgoolga High School at the MNC Championships, with all four teams showing great effort, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the competition.
πŸ† Under 14 Boys – Champions!
Congratulations to our Under 14 Boys, who battled their way through the finals and secured the win in an exciting penalty shoot-out against Grafton High School. The boys showed plenty of determination and composure when it mattered most. A fantastic achievement!
⚽ Under 14 Girls
Our Under 14 Girls had a great day, having a real crack and giving every game their best. With plenty of substitutes rotating through, the girls enjoyed the experience, supported each other and, most importantly, had lots of fun.
πŸ’ͺ Under 16 Girls
The Under 16 Girls faced the challenge of having limited substitutes but continued to work hard and played some excellent futsal. Their effort, teamwork and determination were impressive throughout the competition.
πŸ”₯ Under 16 Boys
Our Under 16 Boys made it through to the semi-final, where they faced a very physical and competitive game. Despite giving it everything, they were unable to progress to the final. The boys should be proud of the way they competed and represented Woolgoolga High School.
A huge congratulations to all four teams for their effort, teamwork and positive attitude. It was fantastic to see our students representing the school and supporting one another throughout the day. Well done, Woolgoolga! πŸ’™βš½
Huge Thank You to Mrs Vines and Mr Beazley for coaching our teams and also Gavin Mangion from East Coast Eagles Futsal for helping out.

What a way to finish the 2026 Yr 9 Maths Excursion! 🎒🎑

Our final stop was Luna Park Sydney, where the students had an absolute ball! After several action-packed days, it was the perfect opportunity to relax, laugh and celebrate an incredible excursion together.

Throughout the trip, our students have seen mathematics and STEM come alive through banking, navigation, astrophysics, nuclear science and more. They have tackled real-world challenges, asked thoughtful questions, built their confidence and independence, and represented our school with pride. We couldn’t be prouder of them! 🌟

We are currently expecting to arrive home at approximately 9.30pm. We will confirm a more accurate ETA once we are back on the road after dinner.

Another huge day on the 2026 Maths Excursion! βš›οΈπŸ›οΈ

We began at ANSTO, where students explored nuclear science and discovered how mathematics supports scientific research and technology in the real world.

We then headed to NSW Parliament, where our local member (former Woolgoolga High School DUX), Gurmesh Singh MP welcomed us and gave the students a wonderful insight into life in Parliament. Our students were officially welcomed in both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council and had the incredible opportunity to meet the Hon Ben Franklin MLC, Kevin Anderson MP, Tanya Thompson MP, Jeremy Buckingham MLC and Tallulah Thompson, 10 News Sydney State Political Reporter.

It was a wonderful opportunity to hear different perspectives on politics, leadership and the role of the media. Once again, our students did us proud with their thoughtful questions, respectful behaviour and willingness to make the most of every experience.

A huge thank you to Gurmesh and everyone who generously gave their time to make our visit so memorable! 🌟

🌟 Exceptional HSC Achievement – SHAPE Nominations
We are incredibly proud to announce that Oscar Stanton, Ella Dudgeon and Aiyana Barkley have all been nominated for possible inclusion in SHAPE 2027, following the 2026 HSC practical marking process.

During the HSC practical marking process, experienced HSC markers identify exemplary works that demonstrate the syllabus outcomes and a high level of achievement against the marking criteria. These outstanding works are identified as SHAPE nominations.

Organised by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), SHAPE is an annual exhibition showcasing a selection of exceptional major projects created by HSC students studying Design and Technology, Industrial Technology and Textiles and Design across NSW. The exhibition celebrates creativity, innovation, design development, technical skills and the outstanding standard of student work.

For Oscar; Industrial Technology Multimedia, Ella; Textiles and Design and Aiyana; Industrial Technology Timber to have their major works recognised during the marking process is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful acknowledgement of the dedication, creativity, problem-solving and technical skills they have demonstrated throughout the development of their HSC Major Textiles Projects.
Their nominations place their work among an exceptional group of projects from students across NSW.

Final SHAPE selections will be announced in December. Congratulations Ella, Oscar and Aiyana on this outstanding recognition. We are incredibly proud of the standard of work you have produced and the commitment you have shown throughout your HSC journey. What an amazing achievement! ✨

Watch this space for the December announcement!
