National Skills Week is Australia’s week long annual event championing vocational education and training (VET). Promoting job opportunities, diverse career pathways and life-changing stories that are at the heart of Australia’s future workforce.

Our Yr 10 Work Class students showcased some of their new and emerging skills in a display this week.

Then make sure you see our Careers staff to express your interest in doing one of these free Educational Pathways Program 'Start Your Future' courses in Term 4!
The courses run 1 day a week for either 4 or 8 weeks.

🚛Heavy Diesel Mechanics (CHEC) (Every Wednesday for 4 weeks) (21 Oct-11 Nov)
🚛Heavy Diesel Mechanics (CHEC) (Every Wednesday for 4 weeks) (18 Nov-9 Dec)
🐴Access-Animal Care (Grafton TAFE) (Every Thursday for 4 weeks) (22 Oct-12 Nov)
⛓️‍💥Metal Fabrication (Grafton TAFE) (Every Tuesday for 4 weeks) (20 Oct-10 Nov)
👶Early Childcare (Grafton TAFE) (Every Thursday for 8 weeks) (22 Oct-10 Dec)

Students must be aged 15 and over and must arrange their own transport to the course (TAFE NSW - CHEC or Grafton TAFE) via private transport or public bus.

2025 Woopi High alumni Khairyn Briggs is our Skills Week hero today!

Khairyn started his career journey in our Yr 10 Work Class, then undertook work experience with the Ngiyambandigay Wajaarr Aboriginal Corporation Sea Rangers. This led to an SBAT with the Sea Rangers where Khairyn worked 1 day a week while completing his HSC. Today, Khairyn has ongoing fulltime work as a Ranger with the Sea Rangers where he gets to work every day in our beautiful local environment!😀🌳🌊

Educational Pathways Program Forum: Student Pathway Options
Thursday 27 August-6pm to 6.45pm

Parents and students are invited to attend this Educational Pathways Program (EPP) forum on student pathway options.
Join Head Teacher Careers, Brittany Fogg, in conversation with EPP VET Ambassadors to learn more about vocational education and training (VET) options available to secondary students.

You will hear about:

👉General information about VET pathways
👉What VET pathways are available to secondary students
👉First-hand experiences of learners who have used VET pathways to support their career development
👉The obstacles and opportunities that come with VET pathways in regional and rural areas.

2025 Woopi High Vice Captain Connor Kneale is our Skills Week hero today!

Connor's Woopi High career pathway began with Yr 10 Careers classes, then a meeting with WHS alumni Jacqui Lumb (Chief of Staff for Channel Nine Olympics and Paralympics) at our school's annual Careers Day. This meeting led to Connor being offered a Production Runner role with Channel Nine for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Today, Connor has ongoing employment with Channel Nine Sports in Sydney!😀👏🎬
