This week, our educators and children are embracing the comfort and fun of Pyjama Week!

Wearing pyjamas to isn't just excitingโ€” it raises awareness for the Pyjama Foundation, for children in Forster Care. It also supports in creating a relaxed, welcoming environment where children feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.

Through shared experiences like this, children build a sense of belonging, strengthen friendships, and develop confidence as they participate in conversations, imaginative play, and group activities. These meaningful moments support social and emotional wellbeing while reminding us that learning happens in everyday experiences, especially when children feel happy, connected, and comfortable.

Thank you to everyone who joined in for a super comfy week! ๐ŸŒ™โœจ

This week we were proud to welcome back for an annual incursion, Mr. Ants Recycling Man!

Our 3yo and 4yo Kinder programs have both been exploring sustainable practices in their own unique way through our worm farms, chicken coup, produce gardens and inquiry projects around types of bins, dishwashing and food wastage.

In order to extend on these wonderful ideas, curiosities and exceeding themes within our service we were proud to welcome Anthony back for his 1 man show.

Mr. Ants Man and his show all about the love, passion and ongoing daily dedication to recycling is an inspiring conversation that not only aligns with our intentional teaching practice, but our community and family values.

We are so grateful to have Mr. Ants come and visit us regularly to heighten our commitment to sustainable practices, we look forward to welcoming him back soon.

This week, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week and this year's inspiring theme, "50 Years of Deadly." It marks 50 years of recognising the strength, resilience, leadership and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while honouring the communities and generations who have kept culture, language and traditions strong.

Throughout the week, our children engaged in meaningful experiences that celebrate First Nations storytelling, art, music, nature and learning together.

Our Kindergarten programs explored a range of literacy, small world play and went on a researching journey of what has been the past 50 years- similarities and differences alike. Our Toddler and Nursery learners explored artworks, messy play and natural landscapes and reefs through creativity.

At Nido Woodend, we are committed to fostering inclusion, respect and a sense of belonging, helping children develop an understanding of the importance of caring for Country, celebrating diversity and learning from the rich histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Together, we celebrate 50 Years of Deadly and the many generations who continue to inspire, lead and strengthen our communities.

๐ŸŽจ Our Toddler Room embraced a wonderful spontaneous learning moment today through painting! The children explored colours, creativity, and self-expression while building their fine motor skills and confidence. We love following our children's interests and turning everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ

At Nido Woodend we value intentional teaching and create meaningful experiences, however we embrace the spontaneous moments like this painting experience, led by an interest, directed by a voice, a conversation with a family or community member.

We are no strangers to rainy days, muddy puddles and the occasional snow in Woodend. Here at Nido Woodend we are big believers in the saying โ€œthere is no such thing as bad weather, only innapropriate clothingโ€.

We are proud that our risk assessment processes prior to and during excursions support the safe travels around our community. Our children are great contributors to this process also- โ€œrainy! need my gumboots to stay dryโ€.

Our reflection opportunities also ensure that we are always growing and learning with our community and our regular outings.
