πŸ€ U15 Boys Basketball – Regional Championships πŸ€
Our U15 Boys Basketball team competed at the Regional Championships at Newcastle Basketball Stadium on Tuesday!

The boys started the day with a thrilling 30–29 win over Scone, before backing it up with a strong 40–20 victory over Chatham. The boys were then knocked out after going down to a very strong Hunter Sports High team.

We are incredibly proud of the effort, resilience, teamwork and skill the boys displayed throughout the day. They represented our school exceptionally well and should be very proud of what they achieved at the Regional level.

Congratulations to Max and Nate on being awarded Players’ Player for their outstanding contributions throughout the day!

A fantastic effort from the whole team β€” well done, boys! πŸ‘πŸ€

πŸ“š Year 9 Putting Their Algebra Skills to the Test! βž—

This term, Year 9 have been learning to solve a range of equations involving algebra. Today, they happily put their skills on display by β€œteaching” each other what they have learned.

There was plenty of explaining, sharing of strategies and, thankfully, some very impressive mathematical thinking! πŸ‘

We can confirm that their working out is correct βœ… β€” and their teacher, Ms Carson, is exceptionally proud of them! 🌟

Well done, Year 9! Keep up the great work! πŸŽ‰

Dakota is attending a Find My Way placement every Tuesday at Maitland Book Exchange as part of her career pathway into work in a local Library.
She is enjoying helping customers find their books on a specific topic area and has been organising the existing stock into 'easy to find' sections.

Congratulations Dakota

After completing a Start Your Future short course in Car Detailing at Glendale TAFE, Bailey has followed this up with a work experience placement at Maitland Toyota in their used car section.
The Manager, Curtis, has commented that Bailey has slipped easily into their existing car detailing team and is a reliable and polite worker.
Well done Bailey!

Students from S7, S8 and S13 celebrated Indigenous Literacy Day by watching the Indigenous Literacy Day livestream and exploring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, language and culture. This supported our Literacy unit, with a focus on storytelling and writing.

Students also gathered artefacts from around the school and worked collaboratively through a range of learning activities before enjoying a special celebratory lunch together.

β€οΈπŸ”¬ Things got a little… heart-pounding in 8R!

Our 8R students got hands-on while investigating the circulatory system as part of our Animal Biology unit β€” completing a heart dissection and getting up close with the anatomy of this incredible organ!

From identifying the chambers and valves to exploring how the heart works to keep blood pumping around the body, our budding scientists were certainly not afraid to get stuck in!

It’s safe to say there were plenty of β€œewe!” moments, lots of curiosity, and some fantastic scientific learning along the way!

Well done, 8R β€” you really put your hearts into it! ❀️
