Today we visited R.C. Homestead & Petting Zoo and the children loved meeting, feeding, and caring for the animals. These hands-on experiences help children build empathy, confidence, and a deeper connection to the world around them.

Jean Piaget reminds us that children learn best through active exploration of their environment – and today’s farm visit brought that to life!

Outdoor painting fun! Using our recycled-box art board, the children explored colours, patterns and friendships while creating together

Today our school holiday fun took us to the library, where the children discovered the world of technology and robotics using tablets and interactive robots. They experimented, problem-solved and shared ideas — sparking curiosity about how technology works.

This hands-on experience supports creativity, teamwork and critical thinking (EYLF Outcome 4, MTOP Outcome 4).

As Seymour Papert said, “The best learning happens when children are actively making things happen.”

Today we created our own little worlds — from fairy gardens to small-world play with loose parts. It’s amazing to see how much imagination and joy can grow from the simplest of treasures.

Through this kind of play, children are building creativity, problem-solving and storytelling skills.

As Piaget reminds us, “Play is the work of childhood.” 💫

📚 2026 Prep Enrolments Now Open! 🎉
Mission Beach State School is now taking enrolments for Prep 2026.

If you have a child born between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021, please pop into the office to collect an enrolment pack.

We kindly ask that forms be returned by the end of August to help us plan Prep transition visits and activities for Term 4.
