π¬ Could revisiting one of Einstein's early ideas help us uncover new mineral resources?
A fascinating article published by American Geophysical Union (AGU) in Eos explores research by Associate Professor Enbang Li from the School of Mathematics and Physics. He is is challenging a longβheld assumption in physics - that the speed of light is constant. His work suggests gravity may slightly alter light's speed, opening up new possibilities for detecting subtle variations in Earth's gravitational field.
Why does this matter? These tiny variations could help scientists "see" beneath the Earth's surface in new ways, potentially improving how we locate minerals and understand underground structures.
