Congratulations to Grace to her successful grading to Green belt this week! She put in an excellent effort during her grading. Her consistent training and extra practice at home has most certainly paid off. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to Kara on her successful grading to Shodan! This is a huge achievement! Kara and her mother Shirley were two of my very first students when Wollongong Shotokan Karate first opened up its doors in September of 2019. Kara started with me as a white belt, with no martial arts training. However, right from the beginning, her enthusiasm for karate shone through. And her first grading to yellow belt was done during COVID and via Zoom! She consistently shows great spirit and perseveres with her training, no matter how hard it may be at times! Her grading at the 2024 SKIA Shotokan Week last week posed a significant challenge, the hardest part of her karate journey to date, but SHE DID IT! Thank you Kara for your excellent effort and dedication! You are an inspiration to us all! Oss!

Team Wollongong had a fantastic time at the 2024 SKIA National Championships and Seminar last week! In addition to training hard at the seminar, 4 club members competed and/or volunteered at the championships. Collectively, we achieved 5 medals between us. Congratulations to all! Kara won gold in kata, Chris earned bronze in both kata and kumite and I scored silver in kumite and bronze in kata. But such efforts would not be possible without our volunteers. Thank you to Shirley for volunteering throughout the championships and helping us all out. I also served as corner judge when not competing. Well done Wollongong!!! Oss!
