An Anglican co-educational school from Pre-K to Year 12. The School Crest

The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) was founded in 1959 through the concerted efforts, vision and energy of the late Bishop Gordon Begbie and a dedicated band of 'founding parents' who firmly believed in the need for a regional Anglican school to be based in the Illawarra. The vision and philosophy of those families to fully develop young people spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically

Junior School Walkathon

Students moved through a range of activities including dancing, a playground course, target throws, limbo and parachute play, with the balloon arch and Mr Jorgensen-Hull as the ‘Numbers Wizard’ adding to the atmosphere and excitement.

Nathan in Year 2: “My favourite part was the paper planes. We learnt how to make them afterwards in our STEM lesson.”

Shreya and Dianca in Year 4: “It was so good to take a Prep buddy around the course. I felt like a big sister!”

The event was made possible through the generous support of the P&F and the enthusiastic involvement of families and staff. Thank you to all involved.

Year 5 Celebration of Learning

Our Year 5 students showcased their learning through presentations inspired by the book Mechanica. Throughout this unit, they explored how living things adapt to changing environments and examined human impact on ecosystems.
Students created their own hybrid Mechanica, part animal, part machine, to respond to a world shaped by global warming and extinction. Thank you to all the families for your support and encouragement.

Full album available on OLLE.

AICES Netball Cup

The AICES Netball Cup provided a fantastic day of competition for the Illawarra Grammar Under 15 and Open Girls' teams, who competed against strong schools from across the state.

Our Under 15 Girls' delivered an outstanding performance, finishing undefeated throughout their pool matches. Their semi-final proved to be an exhilarating contest, extending into quadruple overtime before they were narrowly defeated. The team responded admirably in their playoff match, securing a convincing victory to be crowned Division 2 Champions.

The Open Girls' demonstrated great resilience and development across the day. Following a challenging pool stage, they finished fourth and progressed to the Division 4 Grand Final. Through excellent teamwork and continuous improvement, they produced a strong performance to claim a comfortable win and secure the Division 4 Championship.

Congratulations to all players on an impressive display of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

Titus Grenyer (Class of 2015) returned to Wollongong Town Hall this month for a special organ performance as part of Merrigong Theatre Company’s Music in the Morning series.

Titus began his musical journey early, learning violin, piano and composition before discovering a passion for the organ during lessons at Wollongong Town Hall. Since then, his career has taken him to some of Sydney’s most well-known institutions. He is now the City Organist at Sydney Town Hall, Director of Music at Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Church in Chatswood and Manager of the Organ and Carillon at the University of Sydney.

It’s always special to see alumni making their way from local beginnings to significant roles in their field - and returning to where it all began.

Congratulations to Year 6 students Noah Fineberg and Hollie Shelbourn on their outstanding achievements in the JAL Foundation competition. For their haiku poems and accompanying artwork, Noah was awarded first place in Australia, taking out the grand prize, while Hollie was named one of three national runners-up.
