Join in the fun of philosophy in the new PHIL107

Celebrate the spooky season in the best way possible: by doing philosophy! The magical Philosophy Forum folks are running an all day event on Halloween - there'll be be horror-themed talks, a careers panel (what's scarier than the job market?), trivia and FREE FOOD. Come along for some spine-tingling fun!

Exciting news for this Thursday, we are having our Forum day! This will be happening from 10:30-5, with trivia at unibar happening at the conclusion of the event. There will be speakers from the UOW Philosophy Faculty, speaking on their research. The event will also include catering, a student led debate and a research and careers in philosophy talk. The best part? Because it’s on Halloween all of the talks will be spooky season related. Please register for then event on our qpay site and come along! Feel free to bring friends who don’t study philosophy and come and go as you please during the day. The schedule for the day will be posted soon.

Hi members, we are announcing that we will hold our Annual General Meeting (agm) on the 15th of October. Our room is to be confirmed, but we will do another post when it has been confirmed.

Please attend so we can elect a new executive for 2025, as well as discuss feedback for our events in 2024. This is open to all our members, so we hope you can attend.

Tomorrow we start our reading group! This session will be dedicated to discussing what we do in reading group as well as taking suggestions for texts to read in future weeks, if our members would prefer a semester long close reading of a text or fortnightly focuses on different texts. Come along to 19-1083 tomorrow if you want to get involved, we hope to see you there!

Now that Autumn session has wrapped up, it's time to start thinking about Spring. Here are the subjects were offering this Spring, including our newly revised PHIL 236: Philosophy in Film, Literature and Games!

Come along to our assessment writing workshop tomorrow from 3:30-4:30. This is a great opportunity to get prepared for final assessments including digital artefacts and take home exams.

Our next reading group is next Tuesday on the 30th of April. We will be discussing book 1 of Plato’s republic. If you want to come along and haven’t registered yet please use the link in bio.

This Barbie is having an existential crisis! If you want to chat about what that might mean, join the brilliant UOW Philosophy Forum for a super fun event.

Hey guys! Next Tuesday we are having our long-awaited Barbie movie night. Come along to discuss the philosophical implications, content and nature of the film Barbie. The location is TBC. We will have pizza to eat while we watch the movie, and will discuss the film afterwards. Registrations are essential for this event, please find the link to register in our bio.
