"21-year-old water polo coach Lilie James became the 55th Australian woman to be killed in 2023 when she was allegedly bludgeoned to death by fellow sports coach Paul Thijssen. Her body was found on October 26.
Her death was followed by the brutal murder of a woman in Bendigo, bringing this year's grim tally to 56, while another two deaths, including one of a woman in Muswellbrook, NSW brought the total to 58 this year.
The Muswellbrook woman was the sixth woman killed in just 10 days."

"As a woman with a physical disability since the age of two, I never thought I was worthy of a man's desires, or capable of fun times in the bedroom. With high needs in daily personal care tasks like toileting, dressing and showering, sexual matters never crossed my mind. What kind of man would choose me over an able-bodied person? They would be crazy to take on someone with additional needs.
In January 2023, at the age of 43, I had my first session with a male es**rt called Chayse. It was the first time I had been naked in front of a man, outside a hospital. A nerve-wracking experience, but Chayse made me feel comfortable and relaxed as he gave me an erotic massage at his place."

A parliamentary inquiry into national consent laws has heard damning testimony over three days, including reports of victim-survivors being forced to study in the same space as their alleged ra**st.
“What we hear from a lot of students is, 'there's not a lot of point in reporting, because I'm not being kept safe,'” she said.
“'I'm not being supported. And at the end of it, I've returned to campus to find out the person that hurt me is still there and I didn't know about it.'”
