Good day mate,
Idioms are fun to use when you kind of get the gist of their meanings. Today, we got a fancy idiom that you might have heard it if you've been living in Australia for a while. It's not really nice, but sometimes we need this kind of language to vent with your friends about work. Let's have a look!
" Couldn't organise a p**s up in a brewery" = highly incompetent.
When you say " Someone couldn't organise a p**s up in a brewery", you simply imply that person is not able to do anything at work, very disorganized and sometimes it just means he/she doesn't know how to do their job. Very impolite, right? But sometimes you can use this term to vent with friends about work-related problems or just simply to insult someone. The latter is not really nice, so please don't do it. I was just kidding.
Let have a look at some examples:
"Urghh, I really don't like my colleagues, they are so arrogant and often leave a mess for the next day before they leave work. They just couldn't organize a p**s up in a brewery, could they?"
" My intern is not really good at filling out paperwork for the customers. Without my guidance, she clearly couldn't organize a p**s up in a brewery, I'm telling you."
For those who don't know:
(n) a p**s up = a heavy drinking session or a big party where alcohol is served.
(n) a brewery= a place where the beer is made commercially

G'day,
Today we have another idiom that would be useful, if you want to say "Oh this is going to take them down" in a very polite way. This week idiom is used to show that you do something to weaken someone's position. Not a very nice thing to do, but it's good to know what it means.
" To cut the ground from under someone's feet" = put someone in a disadvantageous position.🧱🧱
Ex:
When the rival company launched its new marketing campaign, it really cut the ground from under our feet.
Sometimes, to have no tertiary education in modern society truly cut the ground from under your feet.
That's it for today. See you next week.
Cheers
