UOW Motorsport

UOW Motorsport UOW Motorsport (formerly UOW FSAE), founded in 2001 is a Formula SAE Team competing in Australasia. The project is managed and run entirely by students.

The Formula SAE competition is an international event hosted by the Society of Automotive engineers, (SAE). The competition requires the next generation of engineering professionals to design and build an open wheel, formula-style race car. The culmination of the project occurs when each team takes their car to the regional event, where teams are pitted against other local and international teams

in a series of both static and dynamic events, including design, cost, acceleration, one lap sprints and endurance events on an auto-cross style track. Worldwide there are 8 competitions held each year, one for south-east Asia, held in Melbourne, Australia as well as events held in Japan, Europe, Brazil and the United States. The Australasian competition has been running since 2000 and attracts approximately 30 teams. FSAE is an amazing opportunity for university students to obtain first hand experience in project management, teamwork, critical decision making, budget management, application of complex real engineering techniques, and hands on manufacturing of a high performance racing car.

UOW Motorsports would like announce a new 2026 sponsor, KISSsoft!

Gleason is a software that is used to analyse a single element of a project to complete complex designs. It covers all intrinsic aspects of your projects, such as all common types of gears, bearings, shaft-hub connections, bolts and springs.

The support of KISSsoft has played an integral role in the design of this year’s car and has greatly benefited the team. KISSsoft allowed the team to optimize and design this years gear box to recognised standards as well as use the strength and fatigue calculations to validate our designs of each individual drive train component before manufacturing with an informed understanding.

Thank you KISSsoft for supporting the team!

A big thank you to Five Barrel Brewing for hosting our team dinner recently.

It was a great opportunity for the team to come together and celebrate everything we’ve achieved so far this year. Thank you again to Five Barrel Brewing for providing us with a good atmosphere, good food and even better drinks.
