Not the prettiest park of diving…

After all the fun of being in the water, this is the humbling part.

Washing and looking after your gear.

Proper post dive care will ensure that your equipment lasts longer, whilst being more hygienic.

This is especially important if you’re sharing or using hire gear.

My 5 step process is pretty simple, and it comes from more than a decade working within diving and surf schools, washing countless wetsuits.

1. Fresh water rinse/dunk
2. Dunk in water with wetsuit wash
3. Soak in wetsuit wash
4. Rinse if with fresh water
5. Hang in a place out of direct sunlight

Bonus tip: for open cell, dry the outside layer first as this takes the longest. The inside can literally dry in minutes.

The weather gods turned it on for us today! ☀️🐋

Epic conditions out on the water, some playful seals, and a few VERY close encounters with humpback whales!

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get in for a whale swim today, but that’s the reality of working with wild animals. Encounters are never guaranteed, and the animals always come first.

So proud of everyone on board for being patient, keeping the stoke high, and respecting the rules, even when the whales were right there in front of us!

A good reminder that wildlife encounters are a privilege, not a guarantee, especially when you are respecting the animals and letting them determine the encounter.
