The Humanistic Buddhism Centre (HBC) continues to be a pioneer in research and development on Humanistic Buddhism in Australia with the help of partnerships and volunteers from around the world.

The Humanistic Buddhism Special Interest Group (HB SIG) aims to serve as a supportive research network and a safe platform for participants to share resources and HB research results, invite feedback to preliminary findings, share opportunities for publications and presentations, as well as encourage one another as dharma friends. At our meetings, you can choose to present or simply be present.

The next SIG meeting will be held on 18 July 2023 from 2-3PM AEST. This will be followed by an academic writing workshop from 3.30-5PM AEST. For more information please contact [email protected]

Today (1 Dec 2022) at 3 PM AEDT, Venerable Dr Juewei Shi be the Buddhist voice on a panel entitled 'Religious Studies, Higher Education and Australian Culture' in a "What's God got to do with it?" Symposium in the first Congress on Humanities and Social Sciences. Together with colleagues from ACU and Alphacrucis, Venerable will be responding to University of Divinity's Vice Chancellor Peter Sherlock's presentation on this panel topic. Join the conversation at the 8th International Symposium on Humanistic Buddhism!

This live Symposium brings us together as an international community on Zoom from Saturday the 6th to Monday the 8th of November.

Leading international Buddhist Studies scholar Emeritus Professor Lewis Lancaster and Australia’s top social researcher Hugh Mackay are the Symposium’s keynote speakers. The topic of their dialogue will be: “Never Waste a Crisis: a Human Response to Disruption”. We expect a discussion that is profound, topical and far ranging.

The Symposium will explore a range of serious threats to humanity and imagine our shared future. We will see how our responses to modern crises determine how we fit into that future.
Panels will address:
