Sydney Botanical Garden

The winter garden had few blooming flowers, but an out-of season cosmos was blooming. Its resilient and adorable appearance was so charming that I used a Nikon old lens, manually focused, and shot under backlighting conditions.

Stanwell Park, NSW

We were on a Wollongong Photography Group Milky Way workshop when the clouds got too heavy to see the stars so our instructor Sue said we should look for other images so we weren't wasting time waiting for the clouds to disperse. I decide to shoot on F/16 to make the street light on the headland into a big star and then long exposure to emphasis the red of the fishermans fire, their fishing rod lights and make the surf a nice white blur. Loved the photos I went home with that night, they certainly weren't the images I'd been expecting to take!

Bald Hill Stanwell Tops NSW

I drive past this location everyday, the view and light always changes. The photo shows Seacliff Bridge and the city of Wollongong in the distance. There are many opportunities for photography from the location with storms off the coast and frequent rainbows. The photo was taken in the early morning light (120 mm f2.8).
