A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for Chris Sobey's Dedicating a Lifetime’s Work to Science and New Treatments for Stroke, presented as part of National Science Week 🧠🔬

It was a privilege to hear from Distinguished Professor Chris Sobey as he shared insights from his career dedicated to advancing our understanding of stroke and developing new treatments to improve patient outcomes.

From exploring what happens in the brain following stroke to progressing promising research such as Amnion Cell Therapy from the laboratory into clinical trials, Professor Sobey gave us a fascinating look at the dedication, collaboration and innovation behind medical research.

Thank you to Professor Sobey for sharing his knowledge and experience, and to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a wonderful event.

We began yesterday’s Indigenous Week celebrations with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by cultural performances, workshops, a Torres Strait Islander cultural stall, and opportunities to connect, share and learn together.

It was a wonderful celebration of First Nations culture, connection and resilience, bringing our campus community together in a spirit of learning, respect and celebration.

Thank you to everyone who generously shared their culture, knowledge and time with us, and to all who joined us for this special day.

After graduating from our Albury-Wodonga campus earlier this year, Hannah secured a place in a Doctor of Medicine course in Shepparton.
Her story is just one example of the pathways and opportunities that can begin with regional study.

This Sunday, 16 August, we’re opening our doors for La Trobe Albury-Wodonga Open Day. Come along to explore our courses, meet students and staff, tour the campus and discover where studying locally could take you.

🔬 Regional research is helping advance our understanding of male fertility.

La Trobe researcher Eliza Keady is investigating the role of vitamin A in the epididymis — an essential but often overlooked part of the male reproductive system where s***m mature.

Based at our Albury-Wodonga campus and the Holsworth Biomedical Research Centre, Eliza’s research is already uncovering new insights that challenge existing scientific thinking, while helping shine a light on an important and under-researched area of health.
