To commemorate Remembrance Day and foster connection between the defence and civilian community within the school, we have decided to facilitate an event to build a Poppy Wall. Taking place in Week 9 of this term, all students and schooling staff members are invited to the event to place their mark on the Poppy Wall. This will be done by placing a crafted poppy and/or leaving a kind message on the wall.

This wall symbolises the united spirit of Wodonga Middle Years College and showcases appreciation held by students and teachers alike, towards the dedicated service and selfless sacrifices experienced by veteran & current serving Australian Defence Force members & families. This wall will be displayed in the school until Remembrance Day (11th November). Therefore by understanding the importance of this occasion, please encourage your child to attend the event.

On the 20th of August the NEVR Regional Ensemble Day took place at Wangaratta High School. All Secondary Schools in the NEVR Rural Region participated.
The Wodonga Federation Concert Band performed which includes students from WMYC, WSSC and WPS.
It was terrific to see such a wide range of ensembles and ability levels, and such professionalism from all the groups.

At Wodonga Middle Years College, we know that regular attendance is an important part of student success.

Every day at school provides opportunities for students to learn, build friendships, strengthen relationships with teachers and participate in the experiences that help them feel connected to their school community.

It can be easy to think that missing one day here or there will not make much difference. However, each day away from school can mean missing important learning, conversations, activities and opportunities to connect with others.

Regular attendance also helps students develop routines and habits that support them throughout their education and into their future.

Parents and carers play an important role in supporting regular attendance. Establishing consistent routines, encouraging a positive attitude towards school and talking with your child about their day can all help.

If your child is finding it difficult to attend school regularly, please contact us. Working together early can make a significant difference.
