Last week I delivered the final workshop of the 'unlock the power of metacognition in scientific inquiry' program for the Science Teachers' Association of Victoria Inc (STAV).

Designing, developing and delivering this program has been a highlight of my work. We've run these workshops across the state over two years, making an impact on hundreds of science teachers. Every single session has been energising and enriching - a testament to the dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who took part.

Thanks to the Victorian Department of Education Strategic Partnerships Program for supporting this two year project. And to the wonderful staff at STAV for making all the behind the scenes things happen, especially Rosalie Maxted.

ICYMI watch this space for more metacognition in science workshops in partnership with STAV in 2026.

This last workshop was also one of those full-circle moments for me, returning to the place I first taught a Physics lesson - Melbourne Grammar School. Thanks so much to the school for the wonderful hospitality.

A pleasure to present a keynote on building knowledge at the S@Science Teachers' Association of Victoria Inc (STAV) conference exploring: what knowledge to build, why put effort into knowledge, and how we might do so effectively. And a privilege to follow after a fantastic keynote from Duane Hamacher on Indigenous Astronomy in Physics Education.
