🌧️ Stormy weather is on the way for Albury/Wodonga today , Thursday 20 August.
BOM is forecasting a 90% chance of rain, around 5–10 mm, possible thunderstorms from mid-morning through the evening, temperatures of 12–15°C, and northerly winds of 15–25 km/h turning north-westerly. A Minor Flood Warning is current for the Murray River.
Please stay safe:
✅ Head indoors when thunder is close. Avoid open areas and tall objects.
✅ If it is safe to do so, unplug sensitive electronics before storm activity. Never handle plugs or cords with wet hands.
✅ Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater : you cannot judge its depth or current.
✅ Stay well back from the Murray River, creeks and other swollen waterways.
✅ Slow down, increase following distance and use headlights in heavy rain or low visibility.
✅ Watch for slippery paths, muddy ground and fallen branches.
If someone is injured, only help when the area is safe. If they are unconscious and not breathing normally, call 000 first, put your phone on speaker and begin CPR: place both hands in the centre of the chest and push hard and fast at 100–120 compressions per minute, to a depth of about 5–6 cm for an adult. Use an AED as soon as one is available.
