On the first day of school (Monday 22nd of January) we will have ‘Tea & Tissues’ for those who want to hang around and make sure there Preppies have settled in. Come to the staffroom and have a cuppa and talk to others who know what it’s like.

Mum’s and dad’s need to make time for themselves to be the best for their kids. As you start getting ready for the new year, consider where your ‘you’ time comes from.

A timely reminder in this busy season❤️

“I saw someone give perspective on Chili I’d never considered before and I think moms need to hear it. Chili has an entire life outside of being a mom, never feels guilty for it, and is never shamed for it. She is happy being her own person and doing things alone or with people outside her family.

In addition to being an amazing gentle parent to her girls, a loving wife, and partnering with Bandit on household tasks…we see her playing field hockey, visiting with friends, and holding down a career. We see her prioritizing the need for mental health breaks, as seen in the episode, where she needs 20 minutes to herself. But I think most importantly, we don’t see her expressing guilt or shame for doing these things. And we don’t see anyone in her life making her seem like she is selfish or bad for needing her own identity.

 As someone who feels insane guilt sometkmes just wanting to run to TJ Maxx for a while and look at make up, who loves rollerskating but worries that the time away is bad, and who sometimes just wants 20 minutes, I needed to hear that perspective and maybe some of you do, too.

We had entire identities before we became moms. We should still have one now, and we shouldn’t feel guilty for it.”

While we are off on our Christmas holidays, keep talking to your Prep child about next year and reminding them of how ready they are. Give them confidence that they have this!
