Around Our School
The mathematicians of 2 White have been diving into the world of place value! Students have been exploring how 3-digit numbers can be regrouped and renamed in different ways, using hundreds, tens and ones to represent the same value. There were plenty of "aha!" moments as students uncovered new ways to think about numbers. We are so proud of their growing confidence, mathematical reasoning and enthusiasm for sharing their thinking! 🥰😃👍🌟

Last Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome graphic novel creator Georgina Chadderton to celebrate the release of her new book, Oh Brother: A Graphic Memoir.

Georgina spoke with our Year 4 students about her inspiration for the book, her journey to becoming both an artist and an author, and the real-life experiences that shaped her heartfelt graphic memoir.

With honesty, humour and warmth, she shared stories about growing up with a brother with autism, her love of Vegemite, and even her roller derby career! The students were highly engaged and loved hearing about the creative process behind graphic novels.

Oh Brother explores friendship, family, disability and the power of Vegemite toast in a way that is thoughtful, funny and accessible for young readers.

Today, on Principal’s Day, we take a moment to celebrate and thank the incredible leaders who have guided our St Catherine’s community throughout 2026.

We have been especially fortunate to have had two wonderful Principals this year. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Paul Mitchell, who led our school during Semester 1, and to Mr Adam Bennie, who has taken the reins for Semester 2.

Both have brought their own unique gifts, leadership, and dedication to our school community. Through their care, vision, and commitment to our students, staff, and families, they have helped make St Catherine’s the wonderful school we know and love.
