We are pleased to announce we will be hosting our Father's Day breakfast again this year.

This year we will. be offering breakfast toasties. All breakfast items must be pre-ordered using the link below and will be available to collect from the canteen on the morning. Pre-orders close 2nd September. Once you have placed your order, you will receive a confirmation email.

Dad's that are attending will need to have completed a Parent & Child Volunteer Declaration form that you can find attached to this notice. There will be hard copy forms that can be completed on the morning available at the entrance to the undercover area

What a start to book week we have had... last night seemed like our busiest PJ night yet. It was the perfect night for a warm milo and lots of books. Our Book Fair hosted by Beaufort Street Books was a great success! You are still able to view and purchase books before school between 8:30am - 8:50am until Friday or after school until 3:30pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
A huge shout out to Mrs Sayers and Mrs Dembo for creating a magical space in our library for these events to occur!

Last Thursday we turned our school purple for Bullying, No Way week. Purple is the Bullying No Way hero colour. It represents peace, strength and empowerment to take a stand against bullying behaviour.

At Winthrop we believe bullying is everyone’s responsibility, and small acts can make a real difference.

This year’s theme reminded us that actions don’t need to be big to change someone’s world. Small actions – like including someone, speaking up or showing kindness, can create meaningful change.

In our school and community, our goal is to build an environment where everyone belongs, diversity is celebrated and bullying is never accepted.

Book Week at Winthrop PS is one of our favourite times of the year. The books, the creativity, the hot milos and the fun!

Our first event is our PJ night - we hope to see our students in their PJ's enjoying a story or two with their families on Tuesday night between 5:00pm-6:00pm. Students, don't forget to BYO mug for your milo.

We have several parades this week. Starting strong with the Puggles & Cygnets Monday morning, followed by the Joeys on Thursday and concluding on Friday with the Pre-Primary to Year 6 students. We can't wait to see the fabulous costumes inspired by our students favourite stories.

In Week 2, Year 4 Launch Club had a fantastic first session with Dr Lucy Forman, a planetary geologist from Curtin University. Dr Forman has been partnered with us through the CSIRO STEM Professionals in Schools program. Students learned about meteorites and had the exciting opportunity to examine real meteorites while Dr Forman answered many thoughtful space-themed questions from our enthusiastic young scientists.
To finish the session, students played a fun “Meteorite or Meteorwrong?” game, working together to identify the real meteorites from a mixed collection of rocks.
Mrs Williams has been incredibly impressed by the way our Year 4 Launch Club students reason through scientific ideas. They have demonstrated an impressive knowledge of space and are able to make thoughtful connections to real-world situations to explain their thinking.
Between Dr Forman’s visits, students will begin designing and creating seed survival capsules to help a real seed survive on the Moon by overcoming many of its harsh conditions. This reflects the kinds of challenges scientists and engineers need to consider as humans prepare to live and work on the Moon through programs such as NASA’s Artemis missions. During future sessions, Dr Forman will support this learning through exciting hands-on activities, including simulating how impact craters form and exploring the challenges of living and working on the Moon.
We are looking forward to continuing our Seeds of Change topic, which also links beautifully with this year’s National Science Week school theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all.

Celebrate the father figures in your child's life with a special surprise from our Father's Day Stall

Gifts can be pre-purchased and students will visit the stall during an allocated class time.

To keep the element of surprise, you won't see the exact gift when purchasing online. Instead, your child will get to choose a gift they think their dad, grandfather, or special father figure will love when they visit the stall.

Gifts are available at $5, or $10 price points.
Simply select the amount you'd like your child to spend.
