Part of last week's Culture Tech visit to Mamadawerre and Manmoyi, was a focus on training Bininj Teachers and staff in using Book Creator to make their own resources to then use in the classroom with students.

Check out what our amazing Bininj staff each created:

- Ross made a book about bush manme including all the manme from the song 'Bush Food is Really, Really Good' (we'll link it in the comments!), that will be re-recorded on the next visit

- Rosemary made a book about identity/skin names (being freshwater people) for students to complete, 'Nahni Ngaye'

- Ada made a recipe book that she will add to with wurdurd help throughout the year

- Glenda made a measuring book for Maths for senior students to use for their unit of work

- Lexi made a book for Early Learning and all of the activities they do as part of the program and will add to this throughout the year showing each activity with video instructions

- Lorna made a Bingo book about mayh (animals) they will find on future bush trips. Students input info for each of the 8 animals, and if throughout the year they spot any of them on bush trip they can mark it off their bingo card in the book.

For National Science Week, The Nawarddeken Academy partnered with Culture Tech, with the support of Inspired NT, to run our very first Science Week event.

The aims of this week were to engage students in the fun side of Science, and to reflect on the types of STEM careers students could pursue living and thriving across the Warddeken IPA.

It was an amazing week with so many great projects. Thank you to all of the people that got it off the ground - Warddeken Land Management, Cara Penton, Carla Eisemberg, Sarah Sutcliffe and the school crew that helped run things on the ground.

Education is key. It is also a basic human right.

Working with The Nawarddeken Academy in bi-cultural independent indigenous education for these last few years has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Being able to share in the journey with digital inclusion, and now broadcasting that message on an influential platform, is a real “pinch yourself” moment.

This 25 minute masterpiece encapsualtes the development of independent indigenous schools and how we can build on these experiences to support an empowering narrative for all Indigenous students across Australia.

Thank you Emma Masters for being the best storyteller both sides of the Berrimah Line, and to the Karrkad Kanjdji Trust for the ongoing support with our programs. Kamak.
