Through quality teaching centred on Jesus, our students are engaged and confident learners who make a positive impact on society. St Joseph's Primary School, Wingham is located on the mid north coast of NSW. The school was established in 1935 by the Sisters of St Joseph whose charism is still evident within the community. St Joseph's is a learning community, proud of its partnership with the paris
h. St Joseph's is proud to offer an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners and emphasises high expectations. Drama has been embedded into the learning program to serve as a springboard for developing literacy through expression, self confidence and self-awareness. The school has developed a sustainability project with an extensive solar electricity system, vegetable gardens, water tanks, composting and worm farm which provides the school with a strong environmental focus. Education at St Joseph's is supported by resources including Smartboard technology in all classrooms, gifted and talented opportunities, debating, special needs and remedial reading programs, a dynamic leadership program designed to prepare the Year 5 and Year 6 students for high school and a kindergarten early learning transition (Early Bird) program. The school has an established and effective morning fitness program. We seek to promote our mission through our involvement in social justice campaigns such as Catholic Mission, Caritas Australia and St Vincent de Paul. We ensure students have variety and opportunity in sport and sponsor the regional gala days in netball, soccer and cricket and offer pathways for talented students. Parents work with enthusiasm and generosity within the school community. The school is best featured by its community spirit as students, staff, parents and parishioners work together to build a great sense of welcome, joy and hope. We believe that through a quality Religious Education program, celebration of the Sacraments, liturgy and prayer, within a pastoral and supportive environment, children are led to know, understand and appreciate their Catholic faith and Church community so that they are committed to living out Gospel values in their daily lives. We have a comprehensive pastoral care agenda, including the provision of a pastoral care worker who is available to assist and support pupils, families and staff through the Seasons for Growth program. We seek to provide a high quality education in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment. We are inspired by our school motto 'Growth in Unity' and our goal is to develop respectful, responsible learners who will be competent and expressive members of our community. Students of St Joseph's Primary School, Wingham are encouraged to continue their Catholic education by attending St Clare's High School, Taree.
