โจ๐ช Day 5 of the Winter Holidays ๐ชโจ
What a magical way to finish off the first week of our Winter Holiday Program with a visit from JD's Magic Show & Workshop! ๐ฉโจ Laughter filled the room from beginning to end, with something for everyone to enjoy. Even the educators couldn't stop laughing at JD's clever jokes & puns throughout the show! ๐๐
Our Ooshlings were amazed when the dove appeared from the magician's hat & we certainly can't forget the mind-reading bunny rabbit that somehow managed to pick the crocodile card! ๐ฐ๐ We think a few of the children were trying to work out how they could teach the rabbits around them to read minds too! The show was engaging, interactive & full of excitement, with many of our Ooshlings eagerly jumping on stage to help with the magic before lining up for JD's signature at the end of the performance. ๐๐
The magic continued throughout the day as the children watched & learned a few magic tricks on the TV before proudly sharing them with their educators & friends. ๐ช Card tricks were being performed all day long, everyone had fun showing off their magical moves during Musical Statues & we even had some beautiful butterfly wings fluttering around our service, adding even more sparkle to our magical day. ๐ฆ๐
One of the highlights of the day was our magical milk experiment. By combining milk, food colouring & a drop of dishwashing liquid, we watched the swirling colours dance before our eyes. There were lots of "WOW!" moments, followed by plenty of excited calls of "Can we do it again?" ๐คฉโจ
The fun didn't stop there! We also headed out to the basketball court to practise our juggling skills with juggling balls. There were smiles, laughter & plenty of friendly challenges as the children asked, "Can you juggle two? What about three?" It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another as they practised, persevered & celebrated their achievements.
We also took some time to learn how to create fishtail braid bracelets using loom bands in the colours of the Aboriginal flag, connecting our activity to this year's NAIDOC Week theme, "50 Years of Deadly." ๐ค๐โค๏ธ As we worked, the children discussed the meaning of each colour: black represents Aboriginal people, red represents the earth, ochre & the people's spiritual connection to the land, while yellow represents the sun, the giver of life & protector. It was a wonderful way to celebrate culture while bringing these important meanings to life.
To finish off the day, we added a little more magic by making blue slime! Because who can say slime isn't magical in so many ways? Watching the ingredients transform before our eyes was the perfect way to end a day filled with wonder, laughter, creativity & imagination. โจ
What an amazing way to wrap up the first week of our Winter Holiday Program! โ๏ธ๐ We can't wait to create even more magical memories with our wonderful OOSHLings next week.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend & that our Ooshlngs get plenty of rest before we jump, tumble & explore our way through the PCYC on Monday! ๐คธ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ We can't wait to see everyone for another week of fun, friendship & adventure! ๐โจ
