Mongolia’s Gobi desert is striking in its beauty.
The sweeping deep rose-gold sand dunes made a stunning subject for the kids to practise several techniques:
- explore blending (which they always enjoy),
- work on a range of values to create depth and atmospheric perspective, and
- adding their Bactrian camel as a focus point
Fun fact: the sand dunes are nicknamed “Singing Sands” from the hum produced by the friction of the sand grains when the wind blows!

We’ve been creating and arranging flowers 💐 since we were 4/5 years old! 😂
Preschool readiness activities can be super fun for the little kiddies.
They drew different types of lines and patterns with oil pastels, painted over them with watercolour to make the colours pop.
This activity integrates several skills to boost their development:
pre-writing skills, visual and spatial awareness, early geometry (numeracy like counting spots, comparing shapes and sizes), sensory experience, threading pipe cleaners, and confidence in carrying off the entire floral arrangement from start to finish!
Our flowers 💐will bloom for a long, long time!

It was a hoppy Easter at the preschool art class drawing Mr. Bunny, fancy eggs, and a photo frame for their Easter memories!
Aren’t their bunny faces full of personality? 💓
DIY art projects are the best!

Our book inspiration for this art project is Lucy Cousins “A Good Place”. The kids learned about their environment, nature, and that insects 🦟 live in different places.
Beetles 🪲 like dead wood, dragonflies like water, caterpillars 🐛 eat leaves to grow into butterflies 🦋.

What do you find at the park?
Open your eyes and you may see,
A frog 🐸 bathing like you and me!
Frogs love their pond to keep cool during the summer months.
Our preschoolers sculpted their frog enjoying a soak in its own whirlpool bath rock pool. They kneaded white to blue until it was marbled like gentle waves; white to black for marbled pebbles.

Happy Lunar New Year!
Chinese scroll paintings originated from bamboo and silk texts approximately 475 BC. In some East Asian high quality or historical scroll paintings, there can be more than 1 chop (seal), with subsequent owners, scholars, and collectors adding their own seal.
For this project, the painting style focussed on expressive (few) strokes - Xieyi, rather than the Gongbi or meticulous and detailed style.
The kids sketched horse figurines quickly, using charcoal to capture the boldness and energy of the fire horse.
Wishing you all the energy, strength, and spirit to accomplish your goals in this Year of the Horse!

Our 3 and 4-year olds created their first pop up Valentines 💌 card, with a zillion flying colourful hearts!
Cut a coil from a piece of plastic or acetate. Glue each side of the coil to the inside of the card. Open the card to stretch the coil and glue as many paper hearts as desired.
Voilà, flying hearts!

Valentine’s Day is a day we can encourage kids to express their love 💓 and gratitude through their creativity.
They examined the colour wheel/colour dial to see the relationships of secondary, tertiary/analogous colours and tints and apply it to their work.
Labelling and writing feelings lead to greater self-awareness and enhances emotional vocabulary.
Cheers to creating a world of colour one corner at a time!

Games like Noughts & Crosses (X and O, Tic Tac Toe) offer plenty of educational benefits!
These preschoolers created their Pavlova-themed game. Create and play!
Math skills - for 3-year olds, placing 3 pieces in sequence in any direction; for 4-5 year olds, learning to plan their moves is critical thinking and problem solving
Social Interaction - taking turns teaches patience and playing against someone
Emotional learning for 5 year olds - if unable to complete the sequence, the feeling of losing is a learning moment 🙃.
