Here are 10 tips from us here at Create It Now on painting with spay paint:

1) Make sure there is good ventilation where you are painting.

2) Heat your cans of paint before you use them for high pressure (to get lots of paint flowing out) or cool them down for low pressure (if you only want a little bit of paint to flow out).

3) Shake the paint cans well before using them.

4) Use adhesion promoter when painting on plastic to help the paint stick to it.

5) Use primer for painting metal to stop it corroding from the bottom up.

6) Put down a base of white paint first for bright colours (white wash your background)

7) If you are using tape to stick a stencil down, stick the tape to you T-shirt three times before you stick it on the stencil and the surface to be painted to help unstick it after you are done painting. (this will help avoid peeling off any bottom layers of paint)

8) Know the different types of paint - acrylic and enamel... and avoid mixing them (unless for a particular effect).

9) Clean your paint tips after using spray cans by turning them upside down and spraying for a few seconds until only air comes out.

10) Wait about a week before spraying on clear coat over the top.
