Pease porridge! This is one of our favourite poems, and there are lots of ways to engage with it. We often use the stirring drum in classes to act out making the porridge, and we also use this rhyme to introduce rests to young musicians.

Practice Tip 💡 Build music into your daily life without putting pressure on your child to get involved right away. Sometimes even saying “I’d love to hear you try this piece one day!” is a great encouragement to them. Make music a shared and joyful habit, and practice will be easier.
